Determining Cake Size

Jasmine, on September 13, 2020 at 7:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I am trying to find out about how many people I should be trying to feed with my wedding cake. We are inviting 150 guest to our reception unless COVID is still around then the number can be smaller. We already expect that some of the people we invite will not attend due to distance and other things. So what would be a good estimate of trying to make our cake feed? I saw one thing on google that said about 85% of the guest list. Do anyone have any suggestions?

I agree with the suggestion. My cake was around 20% less than the amount of people there and it worked out since some people leave before cake cut or just don’t want cake and also cake is usually cut so small anyway

I would ask your cake decorator how much as they will know that. You could keep the top tier for your first anniversary too.

We gave our cake maker our final headcount like 2 weeks before the wedding and they made the cake for the appropriate amount.

I will say if you are having a sweets table maybe you can get a smaller cake. I mean I dunno if that much cake will be left but better to plan for 150 and the way wedding cake cuts go it will be small like Melle said.

I would probably do less like 60 to 75 percent of the guest list.

Thanks. After talking to my fiancé that’s about what we were thinking.

Ask your baker because they know how to calculate what you need.

My guest list was originally 150 people too. Before we got our final RSVP numbers back I told our cake vendor we only expect about 110-120 people. The 3 tier cake is going to be about 122 serving size. We've only received about 92 attending, 23ish declines, and the rest are people who haven't even responded to the RSVP. My final head count which I told our caterer is 100 because I'm sure there will be people who RSVP and won't come, and people who didn't RSVP and will come anyways. I hope this helps.
