Destination Wedding Invites & rsvp Timeline

Lesley-Anne, on August 27, 2019 at 1:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Hi!

Our DW is in KEY WEST 3-20-20, I sent STDs about 10 months in advance.... now I'm debating when to send invites.

I read usually 3 months prior... but that would mean invites would be sent right before Christmas! I don't want to risk them getting lost in the middle of holiday cards/mail.

I was thinking of sending before Thanksgiving... making it 4 months in advance. Is that too early?.. or does that make the most sense? I figure after Thanksgiving would be when the Xmas cards start up..

Then I would set RSVP deadline for Feb 1st... that's about 7 weeks in advance. I'd have time to order the favors and figure out how many centerpieces I will need.

We are only inviting about 60 people and already have a good idea who our definite YES guests are..

Let me know your thoughts Smiley smile

Thanks!

I'd send them in November, since it is a destination wedding. Then set the RSVP deadline for the third week of January or so, just to give you a buffer for those you'll have to track down for a response.

I think it’s fine to send late November but not sure why you would need RSVP’s so early. Most venues only need 7 to 10 days for final numbers. We had a destination wedding and made our RSVP’s about 3 weeks ahead so we could chase people down. 😂

For a destination wedding and considering the holidays, I'd definitely send them out sooner - around Thanksgiving sounds fine to me

I think November is fine since it's a DW and you have the holiday issue.

We’re also doing a destination wedding in Key West!! We’re getting married on 2/2/2020. We actually had the same conversation about invites and the rsvp date in regards to the holidays. We are going to send them out late October and have a rsvp date of December 10th. This is a little early, but it will allow for the late responders who are busy with the holiday rush.
