Destination should I pay for Dj,makeup to come

Marsha, on February 5, 2017 at 9:17 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

Hello I'm having a destination wedding in Mexico and was wondering if I bring my Dj, Mua, and photographer should I pay for their trip also? I don't know what is proper destination etiquette since I am asking them to travel. Help!!! Thanks!!!

I think it typically depends on their contract. I know in my photographer and DJ contracts, theres a cost per mile after so many miles from a set point. I'm sure you can find info on their website.

I ran into this as well. They do expect to be paid for their services. Some may negotiate the fee but don't expect them to. Keep in mind you don't have to pay for the entire stay. Have you looked into MUAs and DJs in Mexico? How would your DJ bring equipment? If you're renting equipment and paying flight and one night stay at least, it can really add up. Look into local professionals as well and do a comparison

Yes or you should expect them to work it into the price . Unless the mua artist is a friend who would be coming anyway ( you should still overcompensate) you would be required to cover all travel costs hotel airfare etc and pay them for the service on top of it. Otherwise why would anyone take the job? I would never spend money to go do someone's hair for their wedding . If you can't afford this find local vendors at your destination

They are not going to pay, you do. They may want out of pocket expenses and travel time covered. Depending on transportation, they may need two overnights at hotel.

Thank you for the feedback. I do know most Dj's use a labtop nowadays and the hotel has speaker equipment. But in regards to MUA not everyone knows how to do good makeup especially on black skin which is why I would want to bring my own. I'm still thinking about what to. Oh the stress!!Thank you everyone!!

What part of Mexico? There are plenty in Cancun who work on our skin. In addition, my resort wanted $500 for DJ equipment i.e. speakers. We opted to use a local DJ instead

They will likely charge you to come so either directly for the trip or indirectly by charging more for their service

One of the photographers I spoke with at an expo said that when she does a destination wedding, the couple pays for travel expenses rather than the package. I think it just depends on the vendor.

I would assume yes, you need to pay for their travel and lodging.

I had a photographer say she usually asks for 2 hotel nights paid for her and an assistant and additional for travel and meals . I found it cheaper to use a vendor at the destination . Just making sure I read and consider the reviews .

I would expect to pay for their flights, hotel, meals, rental car if needed and any other cost they would have to be there for your wedding. Or, they will include all of that in the price they quote you.

Travel at the least; meals, travel time possibly.

Wedding is at Hard Rock in Cancun i'm apprenshenaive on the music they'll have to play but if I use their Dj I guess we should have a list of songs we want. Since it's an all inclusive resort they won't have to pay for food or drinks. Decisions. Decisions. Even with the makeup also I do know there's a MAC store over there so hopefully I can get makeup done by one of them. Thank you for all of your feedback.

Also, check with your hotel. Our hotel (in Jamaica, not Mexico) has an extra fee for outside vendors. So, if you are bringing them in, the hotel may also charge you a fee. You can always check with the location to see if they have any preferred Djs or makeup artists.

As far as the DJ- any legit DJ will not use the hotel equipment, they will want to bring their own because they can guarantee the quality. FH is a DJ and he would NEVER use 3rd party equipment. He even denied doing a friends wedding because they wanted to use a Ipod and speakers to cut costs, but it would have looked bad on him as a pro to do that

You're much better off hiring local

We are paying for our photographer to fly out and stay at our resort in Jamaica. It turned out to be cheaper to do that than to use one of the resorts' preferred photographers. And I LOVE our photographer.

I would pay for their flights and stay but like others have said, I would look for local if you can.

How could you not expect to pay for there travel expenses and hotel room? They would basically be working for free if they had to pay for those things. I would never trust a dj or band from somwwhere where else, especially another country. I have seen beautiful weddings ruined because of music.
