Dessert Table or Late Night Snack?

EngineerInLove, on January 17, 2018 at 11:43 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19
Our venue recently added a dessert table to their menu that's less extensive than a normal Venetian table and includes chocolate covered fruit, pastries, flavored syrup for coffee, and chocolate cordials. We were looking at a late night snack option that includes more savory options like Mac & cheese, sliders, and regular or sweet potato fries. I'm wondering what you would prefer: more desserts during and after dinner, or a hot late night snack?

We are having a 6-hour reception with an open bar, so we definitely don't want anyone to leave early just because they got hungry!

This is a difficult one! I'd say if you're already having some type of dessert (cake, cupcakes, etc.), then I'd go with the more savory late night snack option, especially with a reception being about 6+ hours Smiley smile

That is a very difficult decision, but I think if you are already serving dessert, to do the late night snack. its more unique and I would love little sliders and mac and cheese even after dinner because I am always hungry!

It looks like a pretty unanimous choice! Thanks everyone 😁 I pick savory over sweet every time there's a choice so I wanted to get some unbiased outside opinions

Yummmm!!! I'd also go with a late-night snack if you already have two dessert options!

I'd personally prefer the late night snack. It sounds delicious to begin with, and after a night of drinking, dancing and celebrating, I'd probably be craving something salty and bad for me anyway, ha! You know, the old fast food run on the way home from a night out...except you're bringing a fancier version right to the reception!

Definitely, go with savory! This will be more filling if people are hungry and it will help to soak up the booze better. Now I want mac n' cheese sliders.

Hot late night snack! If I've been drinking I definitely prefer savory foods over sweets.

We had grilled cheese sandwiches as our late night snack and people loved them. I think after drinking and dancing all night, it helps to have actual food absorb the alcohol and satisfy anyone's late night munchies. We had cake and s'mores too earlier in the evening, so having a savory option later was a crowd pleaser.

I think it all depends on your crowd. We have elected to go with late night snack because we feel our crowd would much rather have the snack over the sweet table. The last few weddings we've been to, the sweet table wasn't really a hit.

I would vote for the savory option as well. It sounds like you have dessert covered.

Go for the snack! I can only handle so many sweets. I tend to go for the cake mainly so I don't look rude. If you do desserts maybe have a smaller cake?
