Dessert Bar, too much or too little????

MrsBrown13, on April 30, 2013 at 11:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

Is anyone doing a dessert bar? How many treats are you having? Right now we decided to have mini cheesecakes, chocolate almond clusters, champagne cake balls, banana pudding cups, petit fours, strawberry shortcakes and then our wedding cake. Is this enough? We're having 40-45 guests so i figure I would have to make at least 80 of everything so people can have two. These will also double as favors. Does this seem okay?

80 of all the things you listed?!?!? Make sure you have big favor boxes for them to take them home with! That's a lot of yummy desserts!

That sounds good to me and -- YUM! I'm doing the same, but with more casual options. We are doing cake pops, brownies, rice crispy bars, krispy Kreme donuts, sugar and chocolate cookies! ours is DIY, so keeping it super simple :-)

Sounds delicious !! My baker advised that you take the number of guests (eg 100) and order 1 1/2 times for desserts (so 150 cupcakes, or whatever). But with such a variety of things, I'd bank on most people wanting at least 3 selections to take, you don't want a lot left over, but you can always pawn it off on the wedding party, etc.!

We're doing a sweets table, I'm not going to be too particular as far as when is in it, but it's supposed to be mini cheesecake, cookies, cakes, etc. FH has a major sweet tooth, so he's doing the selecting.

I've been back and forth on the dessert front. I was thinking of a candy bar along with any desserts. Right now, we are doing a cookies (fresh baked) and ice cream bar. Who knows that may change.

I think that's an awesome idea! I've never been to a wedding with a dessert bar, but it sounds delicious! One caterer that I'm considering does signature truffles, I was thinking about having a truffle table and letting people take them home for favors. I think it'd be a great idea to do favor boxes - two birds with one stone!

This is all DIY, the strawberry shortcake cups my two friends are putting together while we are at the ceremony since those have to be pretty fresh. I told them to just cut some squares of pound cake a few slices of strawberries and a shot of whip cream and bam there ya go lol Crystal S banana pudding is his absolute fave so we have to keep it lol. I plan on having little boxes for people to put their treats in, all of these will be mini so nothing bulky and we will be serving the wedding cake there. My sister has already said she will take whatever is leftover lol Thanks everyone!

That seems like a lot! I think 1.5 times everything would probably be good, I know at the weddings I've been to I have never touched the dessert bar because I was too full. We're still doing two dessert options (along with a cake) - chocolate milk shooters with a cookie and then cheescake pops - OH! and a smores station.

    So much food, lol.

Love the dessert table! And your options. I like to make sure that there is plenty for everyone, but I would probably try to go with more of a 1.5/person, instead of 2/person. Everyone is not going to eat 2 of every dessert plus cake. And even if you run out of the most popular, no one should be upset because there are still a lot of good options.

I believe they can Crystal S and I will make sure to do that with the strawberries once I Google what the hell that is lol okay so make 60 pieces of each instead of 80. That's a lot better. I just don't want to have too little.

How did you end up doing your sundae bar? Did you have the ice already packaged out in little cups or did someone scoop it out for the guests as they went through the line?
