desperately seeking this China!!

Brodey, on June 24, 2020 at 12:10 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
My daughter is getting married in September 2020. My great-grandmother passed this China, or whatever form it is, down to my grandmother who gave it to me. Through the years, pieces have been broken & non repairable. Long story short, I’d LOVE to find this same CHIna, add to my great grandmothers pieces, and give to my daughter on her wedding day. Perhaps even have her wedding menu on this very plate, if the country is still limited to wedding sizes. PLEASE HELP ME. Her mother, my wife, recently passed and it is something she and I both wished to do for our girl. If anyone knows what it’s called or whom I might be able to ask, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks in advance! desperately seeking this China!! 1

That's really sweet. Usually, china manufacturers put their mark on the bottom/back of each piece, often including a pattern number. It's going to be easiest to identify if you know the maker. Is there anything on the back of the plates?

Do a Google search for replacement china and see who has the the best price.

Exactly what Jessica said. Turn it over and check the markings on the back of the china. If you need help identifying the markings, then I would consider consulting an appraiser

I agree with Jessica there should be a stamp/sticker or logo on back with Companies name on it.

This is so sweet, what a great dad you are! An excellent website is Replacements.com. Many years ago my mother lost 99% of her china in an earthquake; my sister was able to find a complete replacement set of her pattern (at the time well over 50 yrs old and decades out-of-stock) and have it shipped to our mom as a surprise gift.... Good luck! Smiley heart

    My Grandmother has
a Stetson China with I think the same outside burgundy and gold, and the same posey in the center.
So I looked called my mom, she says, if it is, it is Tiffany by Stetson China, gave me a pattern number ( mom found her replacements when Grandmother remarried ).I looked and found several web listings, same edges, same posies, some with different gold work between band and center. And vegetable bowls and platdesperately seeking this China!! 4

es have different gold work, in same set. So mom says maybe it was open stock for years, and variation in gold work ( real gold in the paint of china) often means lots is a more expensive set then small figures. I do not know china. But found, what I remember as gram'sdesperately seeking this China!! 5

If you rotate the one on dishes I found, same flowers and colors, except fading and discoloration. If so, there will be a mark. Next Post

This is the Stetson seal, was shown on several of the replacement pieces online. But mom says, if there is no mark, or it says made in Japan or Made in West Germany, then the set is nice, replacement pieces available, but not Stetson. After WW2 places in destroyed areas of Japan and German got permission, licensing, to make patterns from big long standing china companies, themselves recovering and needing dollars. So look alike dishes and those online,
may be knock off copies of the design, so some variation in color and pattern. And you need to look on the back and see, does it have the stetson mark? If not, look at places on ebay, etsy, and replacement shops. Many carry the original, then ones with elements the same, the knock offs. Hope this helps. Search
