Designated Host

TrudiAnn, on April 12, 2021 at 11:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Hi Everyone,
My fiancé and I don’t want the hassle of having to check in on guests on our wedding day so we decided to designate someone to do this. Has anyone else made such arrangements for their wedding? How did it work out for you guys?tenor.gif

What exactly are you looking for? This sounds like you want to invite guests without the obligation of interacting with them? In that case, don't invite any guests. It's not someone else's duty to do your job.

How do you mean? Like someone to be point of contact if their are issues with finding the venue, or parking or related?
Or actually have someone else host your wedding?

What do you mean check in? Like just touching base with guests/families the morning of your wedding and saying hello/can’t wait to see you/do you need help with anything/do you have any questions about the event/etc? Or do you mean greeting your guests/groups of guests at your reception?

If you’re checking in in general, I would suggest for not anyone to do this the day of. You, your family, wedding party, will be too busy to keep track of this for each guest/family and handle follow up questions all day long. Maybe a week or two before the event do it yourself so it’s more personal and authentic. Not the day of for anyone.
If you’re talking about greeting guests at the reception then you absolutely must try to greet at least each table, you and the groom yourselves. It is the right thing to do to thank your guests for sharing your special day with you.

Why do your guests need to be checked in on?

I think my post was misconstrued, it’s not that we won’t check in any at all, we will. It’s just during transitions as things flow we want to make sure everything’s running smoothly. It’s also on water so their are strict time constraints.🤦🏾‍♀️

Maybe you mean a day of coordinator or wedding planner?
I will for sure have someone moving things along.

That is a day of coordinator. They don't check on your guests.

Thanks Samantha, maybe I didn’t use the correct term. Thanks for asking for clarification.

A day of coordinator would be able to manage that most likely.

Maybe I didn’t use the correct term. Not “check on”. I’m really introverted, was just trying to make sure everyone is good, enjoying themselves etc.
