Dermatology Before Wedding

Mrs. Brendan, on April 16, 2017 at 10:38 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Happy Easter! I am kind of bouncing my question off another I saw recently on here which has to do with acne. My dress is cut lower in the back and I am slightly concerned I will have a red spot or two before the wedding. Has anyone had a shot in a pesky zit before to knock it down a peg or two? How quickly does it work and did it go all the way away or...? Thinking I should make an appointment with my dermatologist now for the week of my wedding just in case and I can always cancel if all is well. Anyone have advice?! Smiley smile

Ugh, I'm so worried about this. I have the Neutrogena rapid clear spot gel. It works pretty well at clearing up individual spots, but it's definitely not instantaneous. I'm hoping that if I'm diligent the week beforehand, that I'll at least be able to keep it to a minimum.

I had bacne pretty bad when I was younger, one of the things that helped the most was a tee tree oil acne spray. I can't remember which one I used, but it worked really well. II would recommend only applying it before bed and wearing a loose fitting t shirt you don't really care about. I think I remember it staining some of my darker shirts.

Tea Tree body wash might help it out but the odor is really strong in some of those products.

I recommend going to the derm now so you can get it sorted out. Also, I don't recommend trying any products out before doing this because really, recommendations are things that help SOME skin but not all. In the long run, just going to the derm will save you lots of $$ and stress.

Have you ever tried Kate Somerville spot treatment? It works like a charm, usually will clear a bad pimple up in about 1-2 days. I swear by it!

Yes definitely talk with your dermatologist! But do it asap! Don't wait till the week of the wedding, what is recommended to you will not even have time to start working in only a week.

I only have some acne, but as of yesterday, am going to a medical spa each month for facials/peel. They are great too for recommending products.

I used to have terrible cystic acne. My dermatologist gave me a cortisone shot because medication didn't work. Cleared up in less than 24 hours. Had no indent, but I've heard that's happened.

I agree with Swin, go to a dermatologist now and get some topical stuff that you can start using to make sure it works. (Some creams and gels can take up to 4-6 weeks until things clear up.) Also, if you're hiring a MUA and it's only a couple of little spots, she could just cover them up for you.

I would definitely go now. I would be really worried to try something new on my skin the week of the wedding.

What if you have a reaction that's worse than the acne??
