Depression because of weight..

Lc, on July 30, 2018 at 9:58 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 25
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else has been trying to lose weight before their big day? I should’ve started this a long time ago but I recently just started to take it serious and it’s been a slow process.

My wedding is in 7 weeks and I know I won’t be able to lose much by then. It’s really upsetting for me because I know I could’ve done it had I started sooner. I want to lose a total of 30 pounds. I had set a goal of 15-18 by the wedding but it’s been difficult.

I’ve been losing veryyyy slowly. Only 2lbs per month. And even though it’s something, it isn’t enough. I’m sorry I’m just venting because idk what else to do. I’m making myself crazy over this, all I want to do is cry.

    Hey girl,

First; what are you doing to lose weight? Are you in a caloric deficit and are you tracking your calories and or macros?

Also, have you increased your activity level at all?

While, 7 weeks realistically isn't enough time to safely lose 30 pounds, you could average 1-2 lbs a week while eating healthy and working out- which could be up to 14 lbs and that's HUGE! I've lost about 60 pounds and still have 15-20 before my big day, I'd love to talk to you if you have any questions or need help.

Don't be too hard on yourself. You're going to be a beautiful bride, your FH loves you now and he will love you so much in 7 weeks!

Don't be down on yourself. I never understand why brides want to lose weight before their wedding day. I'm getting married in 54 days and I'm the same weight as I was when I got engaged. You should be enjoying yourself and having fun planning your wedding and having parties. I'd say just watch what you eat and don't stress about it.

On the positive side, losing weight slowly makes it easier to keep the weight off because you are living a more realistic lifestyle instead of crash dieting or using another technique that you won't maintain long term.

Taking weight off slowly and in a sustainable way is generally healthier in the long run. Just make sure you keep putting good food in, drink plenty of water and that you're staying active. I've always had a hard time losing weight at first. It's like my body is slow to realize"hey this is a thing we're doing now."

You are lovely. The most attractive thing you can have is confidence! You are going to LOVE your big day no matter what, and you won't be thinking of anything except the man that chose to love you forever and vow it to you and your family on that special day. Don't put pressure on yourself to lose weight, just take care of your body and mind. Think of it as keeping it well cared for as a gift to your husband. And remember he chose you heart, mind and body just the way it is! Love your self and you'll find its easier to be healthy, because it's not out of negativity but a positive desire to be nice to your body/health.
God Bless! And I know your big day will be wonderful and you'll be stunning!

Oh I get it! I really should have started months ago and went the opposite direction. We just started hitting the gym hard and of course yesterday I sprained my ankle so now I can't do much at the gym for a bit which is really stressing me out.

I have always had weight issues. I have been doing the 21 day fix on beach body and love it! (Which I am not one to live working out...) it focuses on healthy eating and working out every day for just 30 minutes. To me this is way more realistic cause I'm not about to spend 60-90 precious minutes torturing myself. I have been losing about 3 lbs a week but seeing even more results in inches. Something to consider is that the scale doesnt tell the whole story. Whatever you lose or dont lose, your FS loves you the way you are and you will look beautiful!

Weight does not equal beauty. Ever.

I had really wanted the lose weight before my wedding and was so upset at my self for putting it off. I wanted to look nice for my pics. Fh has made me feel so much better about it though. I was really beating myself up about it and he said he likes me just how I am.

I’ve been mostly calorie counting using MFP. To be honest I just started working out about 2 weeks ago and I’m trying to stick with it at least 5 days a week.

I don’t know much about macros or anything else. Just trying to do less calories in and more moving. I also only drink water and coffee. Haven’t had any juices or soda.

This is so sweet! I do agree and in my opinion haven’t seen a bride that did not look beautiful on her wedding day. It’s just hard to think that way about myself :/

To be honest it’s more about the pictures than anything. When I look at myself in the mirror I don’t really hate myself but I hate how much bigger I look in photos, especially because I have a very round face (always have even when I weighed 128lbs).

Totally just crept on your profile, and while I'm sure you see yourself entirely different, I think you are gorgeous! Your dress fits like a glove, and you really don't need to lose weight IMO!

I've tried just about everything in the book, and I truly believe counting calories is going to drive you bonkers... focus on eating smaller portions, healthier foods... cut out any snacking. I know you mentioned you don't drink any juice or pop, but if you drink any alcohol, try scaling that back as well.

Additionally, working out is tough, so I totally get the struggle! Even minor exercising - walking, jogging, etc. will definitely help!

    Good luck Smiley heart

I've been working out with a trainer for over a year and have lost a little over 30 pounds. I probably could've lost more if I was more consistent with my diet and everything. Its very hard to lose weight, especially that much in such a short period of time. Counting calories will drive you crazy like she said above, but definitely drinking only water helps. Just eat smaller portions, healthier options, meal prepping is a great thing to do. If you're consistent with it You can do it.

As far as the gym, that's great you go so much. Make sure you do some type of circuit training like squats, box jumps, just random things like that. Cardio is important but not the be all end all.

Also, you will be beautiful on your wedding day no matter what, and when you look at pictures I guarantee you'll remember marrying the love of your life and not how much you weighed.

Lolol the thing is that I bought my dress in February 2017 and I gained almost 20lbs since then 😔

So I’m trying to at least get to around the same weight I was when I bought it, then I’ll lose the rest after we come back from our honeymoon.

So I’m not crazy or trying to sell anything or whatever lol!! I was 196.4 pounds on June 8th. This morning I weighed in at 178!!!!

i decided to try low carb!! The first two weeks I lost 10 pounds!! The other 8 have come off more slowly and I had a small plateau. I’ve not been as strict as I should. I went to a wedding & straight after the wedding we had planned a weekend away and I totally cheated all weekend lmao. I got home and I had gained a pound. But the week after that I lost a couple!! So it seems like the little cheat kinda pushed me through my plateau.

Basically I eat under 20 carbs a day. I usually stay under 15. I eat anywhere from **** calories a day, averaging around 1300 normally. I originally thought I was doing “Keto” but I don’t track anything else.

At first it’s a little rough but it is soooo worth it!! Also this is without working out at all. I’m going to start soon to kinda boost it but we’ll see!!!

aside from the 18 pounds I’ve lost, I also lost a lot of inches on my waist and hips (like 4 on my waist, 3 on my hips and an inch on my bust!!)

i want ant to be 150 for my wedding on Oct 07, and I am confident if I stick to it I can do it!!!! I really recommend this WOE!!!

I didn’t read all of the comments but I wanted to say I can really relate to this! I have changed my diet (cut out processed foods and sweets) and started working working out 4-5 times a week. I’ve been doing this since February and my weight has just been fluctuating. I will go down a pound here and there but mostly my weight stays the same. I decided I wasn’t going to worry about the scale anymore and I was just going to focus on toning up and losing fat. I really want to tone up my arms and belly as those are my problem areas.

Just keep going with eating healthy and exercising. It has taken me a while to see results and for me, it’s still not enough. I have wanted to give up quite a few times, but I know that won’t help my situation.

    Hey there,

I totally feel ya on this one. I thought during our 1.5 year engagement that I'd be able to easily lose 30-40 lbs for the big day.... now I'm down to 2.5 months and I've lost a whopping 2 lbs.

I've also been suffering from depression; wedding planning was not as fun or easy as I thought it would be, plus sprinkle in the bad things that happened in the planning process that I had no control over and of course the regular stress of everyday life and work. This past 1.5 years has been super overwhelming and losing weight has been impossible.

Now, I'm just trying to focus on toning my arms for my dress and being okay with the rest of my weight (luckily my dress camouflages everything except my arms). Sorry I have no advice or anything for you, but thought it could be comforting for you to know that someone else is going through the same thing. Hang in there! I know it's tough Smiley flower

First off don't cry he loves you and adores you. Second go hiking every pretty day already have a backpack with trail mix and water prepacked and a nice comfortable hiking outfit and shoes laid out and every single day before or after work go hiking. Mentally it will help a lot and physically you will be absolutely building muscle and burning fat also go on a super high protein low/no carb diet. Cottage cheese, sugar free yogurt, eggs and beans and nuts are your best friends. Always either drink a protein shake like something reasonable no whey. Or eat trail mix on or before or after the hike. You must be really getting lots of healthy fats and protein. I promise if you go on at least an hour home every day you will transform your self also running and yoga are powerful wepoms against weight gain and depression. What I love about hiking is you will at least have great memories so regardless of weight it's still positive
