Deposits on MUA and Hair Stylist

Brittany, on January 13, 2017 at 6:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

So I started my quest to find a MUA and Stylist and have been all over instagram or referrals and found a couple I really like but neither one requires a deposit which I think is really odd. I feel like not paying them until the day of doesn't give them any obligation to me. Is this just me over thinking it or if they book me, more then likely they will show? Did you have to put a deposit for make up and hair?

No, they said they book it like a normal appointment. I thought it was odd

I paid for my trial and wedding day hair and makeup on my trial day. That was considered my "deposit". The remaining balance (about $1200) was paid 3 days before my wedding via e-transfer but I had the option to pay cash day of. I had a contract though and was in contact in the weeks leading up to my wedding so I was never afraid they wouldn't show up or anything.

I expected 50% or shoot, even $25, something to not only guarantee me but to make sure they are not wasting a booking day in busy wedding season. The hair is almost $400 for me and bridesmaids and $250 for make up for me and bridesmaids not including trials. Maybe they know I'm serious cause I booked trials in February?

I'm a hairstylist and I don't require a deposit. Trust me, we love doing weddings! $$$$$

I do require the bride gets a trial though. At this appointment I always give them the option of paying for the rest of the wedding day fees.
