Deposit refunds due to covid 19

Amyrrah, on May 15, 2020 at 8:57 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
My wedding was scheduled for March 28th, 2020. However, like many brides, plans were cancelled due to COVID 19. The venue had kindly adjusted our date to June 28th; however, our family has directly been impacted by the virus and this is no longer a feasible option for us. The owner of the venue has ignored our request for a refund of our deposit for over a month now. Any tips?

Review your contract, send a letter certified and regular mail with your request. If that doesn't work contact a lawyer or your news outlet for help. Make sure you keep all emails, text messages between the two of yall just in case its gets ugly and you have to sue. Hopefully it doesn't.

We do not have a contract, just an invoice.

I think it is horrible that they are not responding to you, but unfortunately they are probably not obligated to give you a refund. Does the invoice say anything about the deposit being refundable/non-refundable?

You stated theres no contract? That can go both ways positve or negaitive. Theres no formal agreement on both parties so it can go however the venue desire....if theres no contact AT ALL. If there is a contract "read over it"& hoping the venue has a heart to depsoite money back if not all some....im still waiting for my money from my venue...no luck ...and we had an agreement. However it still nothing his annoying us too...smh...
