Delayed honeymoon

Sarah, on November 20, 2019 at 1:32 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14
My wife and I tied finally the knot last weekend! She graduates from her doctoral program in May and we decided to wait until she was done to take our trip. I’m wondering if it will still feel like a honeymoon or if it the delay in celebration will make it seem more like a regular vacation?

We’re doing something similar and although I think it won’t be the same as doing it right after, it gives you a second chance to celebrate the marriage all over again!

We got married in May and still haven’t taken a honeymoon. Things were just busy so we will take on next year but we will make it our honeymoon no matter when it is. We’ve talked about hiring a photographer to take some “honeymoon” pictures and make it special.

To me a honeymoon IS a vacation. Lol!! What feeling are you seeking from a honeymoon that’s very different from a vacation? FH and I travel a lot and I love the feeling every time we get away together. So, the only difference with the honeymoon is that we’ll be married.

The month of May isn’t that far and you’ll technically still be a “newlywed”.

I guess you’re right! Wife and I travel a ton so while I am always excited and grateful for a getaway I fear we will not be bringing that just married energy that we have right now. I recognize that may sound entitled or bratty but I’m just on this romantic emotional high and I want to make sure that vibe isn’t wasted on laundry and seeing clients. I want to make sure I can bring it on our honeymoon and really celebrate!

We were married last month and plan to take our honeymoon next May. It will be a first in many ways, our first trip overseas together, our first big trip as Mrs and Mrs, our first big bucket list location. We don't think it will take anything away to wait and it made more sense for us since I need to rebuild my PTO and we'll have more time to save.

I hear you. Well the way I see it, that “energy” should be brought always. It’s created by the two of you and not by a specific date on the calendar. I feel like there’s always an intimate and romantic feeling when FH and I take trips away (even short and nearby staycations). That romantic feeling is kinda hard to avoid while vacationing.

Just a different way of looking at it. Best wishes and I’m certain you’ll enjoy yourselves.

And you can always still wear a “bride” or other newlywed shirt or two to get that feeling and attention.

It might feel like a normal vacation because of the timing, but you two know that it's your honeymoon and that's all that matters. That vibe and energy will still be there because of the romantic celebration you're experiencing together.

Our honeymoon is delayed as well due to weather. We'll be waiting 6 months after we get married so we decided to do a mini moon weekend at Disneyland to still have something to do right after.

I think it can still feel like a honeymoon! It is what you make of it. A romantic vacation can totally feel honeymoon-like
