Decoration budget for $15k wedding

Kayte, on March 25, 2020 at 7:32 PM Posted in Planning 1 9
So our budget for the wedding is $15k with my fiancé’s parents paying $10k of that. The 5k that we have to spend is going to include photographer and DJ. Crunching the numbers I’ll have about $1,700 for decorations, flowers, and anything else that needs covered, to include a cocktail hour potentially which would be $1k

My main question is what would be a decent budget for decorations? My fiancé’s mom is in charge of that but I have to give her money for it, so I need to give her a budget for this. Please help!

I think so. May go a little over but if you or know someone who is good at doing diy you can definitely pull it off.

A big factor is also in what the venue already looks like such as if it’s a blank canvas

You can find some nice diy examples on Pinterest , I bought a couple of things at the dollar tree for Diying . But it’s like what was said above it depends what the venue brings

I’ve probably spent $1200 or so on decorations & flowers. We’re doing faux florals for the bouquets and the arch decor, greenery runners for the tables and lots of glass/mercury glass candle votives. It’s definitely doable—I used Etsy, hobby lobby & quick candles for 90% of our stuff!

I would give yourself at least a thousand as a jumping off point. You can do some pretty inexpensive DIY with floating candles and find table cloths and runners for cheap online. I’d also look into rental options for decor, it might be cheaper than purchasing outright.

Also, I think real flowers will most likely be out of budget depending on where you’re located. Sam’s Club and Costco has some assemble your own options which are cheaper, but silk and wood flowers are very cost effective if you’re open to them

Some silk flowers are just as expensive as real. Look into Costco, Sams Club and BJ’s for wholesale flowers and possibly experiment with DYI centerpieces. You could mix and match with candles clusters instead of flowers centerpieces.

Decor has been my lowest priority so I'm always looking for deals. I comb Facebook marketplace everyday. Lots of brides sell their decor after their wedding so you can get things practically new for a lot less. It takes time because you're probably looking for particular colors and styles so you have to just look everyday until you find things that fit your vision. Piece by piece I've put together some really pretty decor for my wedding. Silk flowers on the ceremony arch and reception tables. Floating candle centerpieces. Simple but elegant. I've spent less than $500. Good luck! Happy planning!

It might help to see someone else's breakdown!

    Flowers: $740 (Costco/Fifty Flowers DIY)

Chiffon Table Runner for welcome and head table: $32 (15 Yards)

LED pillar Candles: $150 for 60 (no open flame allowed)

Pillar vases: $120 for 80 off FB marketplace

Gold Voltives: $40 for 60 off FB

Huge Gold Mirror for welcome sign: $10 off fb

Wood from Home Depot for Sign, Card box, table numbers, and bar sign: $60 (FH is crafty)

Gold Picture Frames for welcome table: $25 from Marshalls

All I still need are a few more picture frames, blown up bridal portrait, and a basket for favors. We're definitely going the "less is more" route. All that we bought can also be sold! Facebook Marketplace is your friend!
