Decor

Kerri, on December 15, 2019 at 9:37 PM Posted in Planning 1 17
I have no idea who to hire for decor. I'm ballin' on a budget over here and want to do all DIY. however on the day of I'd like to hire someone to stage it all. Like put my stuff on the tables and whatnot.

I have no idea who to reach out to..
Most of the coordinators I've talk to say they dont do that or they do but only if you pay for their full package.

You have to hire a decorator or set it up yourself with your bridesmaids.

I cant afford a full on decorator. I'm really surprised there isnt someone out there who I can pay like a thousand or two to show up and put my stuff on my tables..

I would look into a day of coordinator. I think they could do that for you, and it would cost less then a full on planner.

I hired a up and coming girl who dabbles in photography and stuff like that. She's charging me $100 for 4 hrs of work but I'm having my reception in a private room at a restaurant and I really needed centerpieces put on the table and I didn't want to burden anyone either. I found her on our cities' Facebook page. Maybe you guys have something like that as well.

I agree with some of the previous posters. Check with your venue and see if the coordinator who will be at your venue the day of you wedding is willing to help. My venue is being gracious and as long as there is no event scheduled the day before our wedding, we are able to get into the ballroom after our rehearsal to set everything up. My FH and I wanted to do everything ourselves, as far as setting up goes to save some money so when the venue told us we can set up the night before (as long as it all works out), we were very happy with it. If we are unable to set up the day before, we are able to get into the venue at 8am the day of our wedding to decorate. Of course, all of the decorating will be done by myself, my grandma and my sister lol. Since we are not getting married until 4pm, decorating the day of isn't a worry for me because we will have plenty of time.

Have you checked Thumbtack? You could also advertise for this position locally on Facebook, but I would be weary of that

Its an app where you can find independent contractors for all sorts of things! A lot of wedding related vendors are on there as it is a good place to springboard from! I would get on, put your location in and search for decorators!

Of course! I would get some questions in mind to ask them to make sure you're hiring someone on the up and up! Smiley smile

Girl this is what i did!!! most of my stuff was DIY. then for the ceremony i paid a decorator. i couldn't be bothered on my day to set that stuff up and take it down lol so i looked on here and contacted someone in the area. he was very affordable and man they did a fabulous job! I would talk to your venue, they might know some local people. and i would take a look on here in the vendor section. Smiley smile

I'll have to talk to my venue
    I think a get a helper I'm pretty sure.
A lot of the vendors in my area under decor are mostly lighting and drapery. But that's a great idea to ask my venue, it's a low cost venue so i have a feeling they might have suggestions Thank you!
