Deckled Edge Invitations

whitneyjoy, on August 23, 2018 at 11:52 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 4 12
Finally finished my invites and I’m so excited about how they turned out!! Everything that I liked was at least $800 and the invites I loved were more like $1500. Those special details like ribbon and guest addressing add up really fast!

We’re getting married in October at Sundance mountain resort. I love more organic looking paper and decorations so once I saw pictures of the raw / deckle edge paper or whatever it’s called I was obsessed!

I talked to 4 different printers and none of them would print on the paper I was willing to order myself! I know some people have tried just printing on the deckled edge paper at home but I was nervous it wouldn’t work. So I decided to get my invites printed on big sheets of natural felt paper and rip them myself. And they look exactly like the real thing! I downloaded the handwritten font from dafont.com for free and just designed these on Microsoft Word.

Please be kind tho... the ones I took pictures of are the ones I didn’t mail because I thought they looked too messy or crooked.

Pricing for 125 invites:
Paper and printing = $160
Envelopes (lcipaper.com) = $60
Ribbon (Hobby Lobby) = $24
Pictures (Walgreens - 1 per invite) = $10
Return and guest address labels = $30
Stamps = $63
Grand total = $347

I saved about $400-1100 so I’m pretty stoked about it!

These look great! But you are going to need more postage because they will need to be hand stamped with the ribbon.

I LOVE these! Such a cool and unique idea.

I have a slightly unrelated question: we're planning to order these exact envelopes from ICI. How are you doing addressing since the envelopes are darker?

I got the non-machineable surcharge stamps already! They were 71 cents a piece and I only needed 90 stamps. The rest are being hand delivered Smiley smile

Thanks Lacy! I bought guest address labels from Office Max. They're the Avery brand- 2" by 4". I picked the brown ones that look like kraft paper so they kinda fit my wedding theme. And I used the Microsoft Word mail merge so I could use the same fonts that are on my invitations. All the guests names are in the handwritten font that I like!

Also just FYI - Order your envelopes a little early if you can because I found out that LCI doesn't have live updating inventory. So when I placed my order, I got an email 2 days later saying that they hadn't been shipped yet because they were completely out and had to make more... It all worked out in the end though!
