Decisions, decisions, and more decisions?

1) Best physical invitation?
2) Thoughts on Videographer
3) Hotel blocks? Something in the city 30
miles away from venue? Something new the venue where there nothing really to do?

1.) We love our all in one invites from Minted. They also have more traditional options as well.
2.) A videographer was a must for us. Pictures are great, but they don’t capture the emotions of the event quite the same as video.
3.) As a guest, I would prefer to be near the venue. Unless you’re getting married in a destination city, many people might just be coming into town for the wedding then leaving the next day. In that case, it would only be an inconvenience for them to drive 30 miles. You also don’t want people to have to drink and drive that far and an Uber or Lyft would be pretty pricey.

Yeah. The last one I’ve just been like idk. Most is my family. But some are his family and the rest of his family lives in the city. Didn’t know if they’d want to visit one another again before they left. Idk I’m just trying to be considerate lol.

1, we love the invites we got on elegantweddinginvites.com they are super reasonable price wise especially if you buy during a sale. I love how pretty our invites look.
2, we were not going to do a videographer but got lucky with a venue that films everything on their 360 cameras around the room and gives us a copy at the end of the night. Videographers can be super spendy. If it is in your budget go for it!
3, I have heard bad things about room blocks having leftover rooms. I would be wary of that. Definitely have them the closer to the wedding the better.

Here’s mine if you want a real life photo from a person lol. I had Nothing but a good experience with them. They responded quickly to my changes I wanted, gave advice, and they can customize most colors. Shipping was pretty fast as well. They packed everything super carefully. I had such a hard time opening the box 🤣

Don't have comments on 1&2 because we're doing budget invitations, and foregoing a videographer.

For hotel blocks, I'd pick something close to the venue, especially if guests are responsible for their own transportation.

We're working on getting a hotel block booked right now and had pretty limited options (most are 10+ miles away). Fortunately, the one we're hoping to go with has a shuttle service, which I think makes up for the jaunt.

The one we're working with also has a really reasonable policy; they hold our block up until 30 days before the wedding, and we're not financially responsible for any unused rooms because they go up for public sale at that point.

    1) We ordered ours from Vistaprint.

    2) We skipped it, we just felt it was a frivolous expense.

    3) As a guest I prefer a hotel near the venue. I can always make a arrangements to go on excursions later.

    1. We got our invites on Zazzle and we’re really happy with the quality/price.
    2. Videographer is something I’ve read that many brides regret not hiring. It’s impossible to stay present the entire day and having the raw footage of the important parts of the day was really important to us.
    3. Agreed that as a guest I like being close to the hotel. Are you providing transportation?

We love our gold-foil invitations from Vistaprint and were surprised at how nice they were! I watched for a 50% off sale beginning about 2 months before we needed them (felt silly but all right), so we got 100 invites & envelopes for $100.

    2. Videographer -- we are going with one. There's stuff from the ceremony that I know I'll want to look back on that I'll probably not totally remember and I want to have those memories. My future MIL has a coworker who does them for a mid-price range and he's giving us $400 off, so we could do $1100 for 8 hours or $1450 for all day coverage. I scoped out my local facebook wedding groups (twin cities, mn) to see other vendors for that price or lower, but most were only okay. I've seen people ask for videographers at the last minute on there and gotten some deals so people can have business during the off season, so there's that, too!

    3. I think it depends on your crowd. Your wedding is the something to do and it will be nice for people to be near it for getting ready & then crashing afterward, especially if they've been drinking a lot. Having a hotel 30 minutes out may cause people to cut your party short because they need to get back.

    1. I mocked up our invites from Zazzle and I couldn't be happier! They have all kinds of sales on the daily.

    2. At first I didn't care much but then got curious and ended up really wanting one. We ended up going with a photo/video package.

    3. I would definitely prefer to be as close to the venue as possible. 30 miles seem like a lot especially if you're drinking or it could get kind of expensive if they have to pay for a ride

    1. We used Zazzle, I was happy with the cost & qualit.

    2. We hired one for $2,500. We don't have our video back yet (contract says up to 6 months so it could be awhile, probably November/December) but we are really happy we hired one. It wasn't an option for us, I wanted a video of our wedding.

    3. I would for sure do 1-2 blocks if you can, just complimentary blocks so guests have easier choices.

1.) I am getting my inviattions from minted

2.) I love the 5 - 10 min highlight videos that they do and I would love to rewatch my wedding day over again, especially since I hear the day goes by so fast.

3.) I am getting my hotel room block at one of the hotels near my venue (literally across the street). Will your guest have transportation to the venue if you get a hotel 30 miles away?

The answer to three is no. I don’t even have transportation for myself figure out yet. But it’s a no, we’ve actually decided against blocking off a hotel. Let people decide for themself.
