Decided to Elope!

Tia'nna, on April 24, 2018 at 1:47 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
After 8 long months of planning , FH and I have decided to cancel our wedding and elope. Now I'm stuck between feeling kinda bummed and incredibly relieved. On one hand, I was looking forward to walking down the aisle and celebrating with my family and friends , but at least now I won't have to deal with the stress of those few family members who are unsupportive and can go back to not being so strict with money!!!

We did the same a little over a month ago. I'll admit that I sometimes have regrets and mourn the big "dream wedding" I won't be having. However now it feels much more about us and not about trying to impress a bunch of other people. And that feels wonderful.

Congratulations! Relax and enjoy each other!!

Me and my FH are eloping...next Monday to be exact...which is a secret!! And I can't wait!! I'm looking forward to it, although we will still have our wedding celebration in September...since we've paid on the venue and can't get the money back...on top of other reasons. But we decided to elope due to all the drama that some family members started as well.
But good luck on your day!!

I think it's normal to go back and forth with feelings when you make a big decision like this. However, your sense of relief should only solidify that you and FS made the right decision. Best of luck to you both!

We just eloped 4/7 and it was so relaxed and focused on our commitment to each other. We had all the bells and whistles so it was really nice. No stress! No drama!
We are having a luau house party later this summer so we can celebrate with our friends and family and we’ll share our photos and video then. (Still way cheaper than a full blown wedding and still less stress)

If I had it my way, FH and I would have eloped. Surprisingly enough, he was the one who wanted a wedding lol! But we opted to keep it small and we definitely don't regret having a more intimate wedding. Big weddings are beautiful and look like a lot of fun, but it's too much stress for me.

Hope your elopement is everything you guys are hoping for. Good luck & Congratulations!

My original thought immediately after getting engaged was to elope. Then we said, lets just do a destination wedding in Mexico. Turns out the kind of destination wedding we would have wanted (not a beach wedding) would have been about 25k. So we went back to original plan of eloping, which I guess is really a destination wedding for two! We do have to legally get married back in the states when we come back. My mom is aware of this because I just couldn't keep it from her. She still wants to throw us an at home reception where we will most likely do the signing of our marriage licenses so my parents can still see us make it official. I'm relieved to not have the stress of traditional wedding planning. Good luck with your plans!
