Dealing with Covid19

Sarah, on May 4, 2020 at 9:42 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Hey eveyone, I'm sitting in my appartment and feeling pretty much unable to do anything to plan our wedding. When this all happened, the bridal shop cancels my dress appionment, and then we had to cancel our engagement. I'm feeling less like a bride and I honestly do not know what to do now. Does anyone have some advice or a story of what everyone else his handling this?

Why did you have to cancel your engagement? I am confused. Was that a typo?

Engagement session photo shoot. We were going to our home town for Easter and wanted to get it done at our venue. But when this all hit everything was canceled. Sorry for the typo.

Oh ok, I thought that must have been a typo for sure!

Honestly your wedding is 2 years away. You will have lots of time to plan and feel like a bride, I promise! It would be more stressful if your wedding was this year or next and you were worried about getting things done on time before the big day. I've noticed some bridal shops are starting to reopen (depending on where you live) on an appointment only basis. I am sure in the next few months you will be able to do that. I'm sure a photoshoot will happen soon too since you can do that with minimal people. I would just start making lots of Pinterest boards right now to stay busy.

What makes you feel less of a bride? is it the fact that some of your wedding stuff had to be postponed or put off for now? there's plenty you can still do in the meantime such as designing your invites, designing signage, you can still try on outfits like azazie try on programs, etc.

That's part of it. The rest I can't explain. What is the azazie program? I've never heard of it.

I was supposed to get married this Saturday. I haven’t seen my dress since February. I lost my joy too. But you have time to plan and dream. Dream girl. Dream. Look on Pinterest, Etsy, amazon and think about your wedding. It will help bring the joy back.

Hi Sarah! I'm so sorry you're feeling this way, the current pandemic is definitely causing anxiety at every level! I'd focus on the small things you can do right now to start feeling like a bride - you could splurge on some cute "newly engaged" or "fiancé(e)" swag and apparel, order one or two nice ring dishes, and start pulling together inspiration pictures to form your wedding vision! Don't worry; you will have plenty of time to do all the bride things! Maybe subscribe to a monthly bridal box if you can. I went with The Ring Boxes and have really enjoyed them.
