Daytime Wedding Music??

Holly, on July 18, 2011 at 11:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

I am having an afternoon wedding and am not sure what to do about music. The feel of the wedding will be completely different from the typical evening wedding. Would a DJ still be appropriate, or would I be alright with using an iPod playlist?

A DJ is still appropriate if you can afford one. I used an iPod because we weren't going to have dancing and our budget was tiny. Everything was just fine with the music- until the iPod died 5 minutes before the ceremony!! Thankfully, we got it charged enough to play the ceremony music, but then we had to rely on the venue's XM radio for the rest of the evening's background music. I had just charged the iPod the night before!!

We are using an i-pod as well. Just for background music mostly during the meal and cake cutting at our reception. After that though we are switching to a party playlist. I think it will be fine. Honesly a DJ would take away from our reception site its an outdoor setting. Our theme is vintage country rustic so having strobe lights flashing wouldn't quite fit either.

It really depends... one of the biggest differences between a DJ and an iPod is... the DJ usually also acts as an MC. I'm going to share a little video of an iPod wedding. Granted, not all are the same... but that's the general dynamic you will encounter. Hopefully it will help you make the right decision.

    Good luck!

Do a DJ; an afternoon wedding needs a pro to keep it moving without being cheesy or boring. It would be a great addition to your day.
