What are everyone's thoughts on David's Bridal? Do they have a good selection for a good price or should I skip them? Also, I live in a small town where I have to drive 2 hours for dress shopping and my mom is driving 6 hours to come. I need to find a dress in one day.

I bought my dress from David's even after going to a high end salon. The salon I went to was AMAZING and catered right to me, treated me like queen for the day. Davids bridal Ladies were nice, but let me lead the appointment and made themselves absent when need be which I appreciated not having a salesperson hawk over me every second. They have great prices but a small selection and I have heard alterations can be expensive their too. However it is worth a try! I love my dress and hopefully you'll be able to find something.

I had a great experience I went on a weekend first and it was busy but nice by consultant had me and another bride and we all worked together so it worked out. The other bride was alone so she really appreciated it. Then I went back on a weekday because I couldnt make up my mind it was alot quieter so I took my time and found the dress. I loved my consultant she was awesome and Everytime we see other at a different store we stop and talk. I think every experience will be different depending on the people and day but I would say make the best of it and enjoy it because it's a fun experience

I had a wonderful David's Bridal experience!!!!! Sometimes it just depends on the sales person who works with you as well. One of my friends just had a horrible experience at the same exact David's Bridal where I had an amazing experience. Bad experiences can happen anywhere depending on the staff.

David's bridal is ok. I just so happen to go there to try on dresses for my mother in law before she moved out of state and found the one I loved. I wish I kept looking but for the price I paid I didn't. I would only suggest doing tailoring elsewhere if you find a dress you love.

I loved Davids selection! I went without expecting to find my dress. Tried on probably 10 dresses off the clearance rack and fell in love with the first! When i got to the register it was discounted even more than the clearenced price tag! Got. my veil there as well! Amazing experience!

I went to two different locations. One location was better, but the other one wasn't BAD. I went to each location twice. The first location seemed to have a bigger turnover rate so their consultants were not very experienced. It was a total dud but it did help me figure out that I definitely did not want a ballgown lol. The other location seemed a lot more organized and professional, and I think it was also in a location that was less "on the map" whereas the less organized one with high turnover was in a central part of the city close to a college so I'm sure that had something to do with it too. The second time I visited the first location I had a better consultant, so it totally depends on the consultant. I did find my dress there. I also had to do some exchanges--first for a different size, then for a different gown, and then my veil--and it was easy breezy but I know that depends on the location.

Some advice: look up gowns on their website first and call the store you'll be visiting with the dress number to see if they have it in your size for you to try on. This will allow you to try on the styles you want but also give your consultant an idea of the styles you like so they can pull similar dresses. Also, the gowns are generally a lot better looking in person than they are in the photos online. General advice is to try on every silhouette and every fabric, because you may be surprised by what you like and what looks best on you. Wear a strapless bra/spanx for versatility in being able to try on various styles. Take photos standing, sitting, from the side, the front, the back, and any close ups of details, and take a video of you walking in it. Sit in it to see how comfy it is. Keep your "entourage" small. Sleep on your decision to avoid dress regret. If your consultant is a jerk, talk to the manager or leave. If you hate something, take it off and move on! If your schedule allows, try to go in during a weekday or weeknight so that it's less busy and you won't feel rushed. And stay true to yourself and what YOU want. Good luck!

I've gone to the same DB twice and had completely different experiences. The first time i didn't know what I wanted. I'd never tried a dress before and i was very bad at describing my vision. The consultant was rude and i ended up leaving very frustrated. Flash forward to a different appointment- I had a clearer idea of what I wanted. I booked for a less crowded time of day, and had an incredible experience. My consultant was considerate and brought me around the store. She brought me dresses she thought would look good on my body and I ended up leaving with the perfect dress, for less than half of my budget. And it came in after two weeks.

ETA: I'm actually picking it up today!

I loved DB each time I was a bridesmaid, but when it came to my wedding gown I had such a bad experience.

I had a great experience at my David's Bridal! It was our first shopping experience and the last dress I tried on (my dad and sister picked it out while I was trying on other dresses) was the one I kept going back to when I shopped at other stores. My consultant was attentive to me and this was a Saturday where I expected it to be very busy from reading reviews. She wasn't pushy at all. I returned a few weeks later to try the favorite on again and it was much busier but I had no problem with that since I was only trying on one dress. I did end up saying yes to the dress at the second appointment. My bridesmaids were there with me and we had time for them to try on dresses as well so it was time well spent while my consultant worked with other brides. I also loved just walking around the store in the dress. I felt that the price was good and as far as variety I only tried on ball gowns but it looked like they have a wide selection. Good luck in your search!

ETA a photo of my dress. I also bought a belt from DB but forgot to bring it when I picked up my dress. I bought a hoop skirt online to wear underneath because I want my dress to be huge. Not sure why it posted sideways...

I hate shopping and didn't want a huge deal made over me when dress shopping (my mom and sister were enough, lol) and DB ended up being great for me. I actually wasn't planning on buying a dress the day I did, my mom wanted to go "just to look" and I ended up finding exactly what I was looking for. I thought my stylist there was really helpful and provided honest opinions when asked, and I never felt pressured to buy anything (or spend more than I wanted to).

That's where I got my dress. It certainly is no say yes to the dress episode, but your consultant is the one who makes or breaks the experience no matter where you go.

RUN AWAY FROM DAVIDS BRIDAL!!!! During my first wedding, I was younger and the groom and I had a smaller budget. So I went there and got a cheaper dress. One week before my wedding, they said they would have the dress ready and fitted. I got there, they hadn't even started!!!! They asked me to come back the day before my wedding and assured me it would be ready then. But NOPE! Again, they hadn't even started the dress!!!They wanted me to go home and trust them to get the dress done before the wedding and that they would deliver it to me. If it weren't for the fact that the wedding was THE NEXT DAY, I would have walked out with a full refund and gone somewhere else. But given the circumstances, I dug my heels in and had them call their head seamstress to come work on the dress until it was done, that same night. I took the dress home at 3 am.

Most of my friends got their dresses at David's. I was there yesterday and had no luck. I think it just depends on what you are looking for. I still valued my shopping trip, cuz it helped me figure out for sure what I didn't want. Made my second appt at another salon much easier.

As per previous recommendations from WW I will be going to David's Bridal with and open mind during the week so it will not be as busy and I can hopefully get more help and attention.
