Davids Bridal - Won a free Mary Kay bridal makeover?

Kristen, on April 4, 2017 at 11:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

I just got an email from a Mary Kay rep stating that my name was selected to win a free bridal makeover package. I believe when I first got engaged I signed up for a chance to win a free wedding dress from David's Bridal, but I don't remember anything about Mary Kay or a makeover. The email was sent from what looks like the rep's personal email and said to call or email her within 30 days to claim my prize. I emailed David's Bridal asking if it's legit but I probably won't hear from them for another day or two. I don't know. Legit or shady?

It's a Mary Kay party. She will try to sell you and your friends products.....not a prize. Sorry.

All you're getting is $10 worth of product? That won't get you much. I let a friend come to my house one time and she tried to sell makeup and products to my family. It dragged on for so long and at the end we almost felt obligated to buy. I would skip it unless you are actually planning on buying their products.

I knew someone who won this and she dragged her entire bridal party to it. It was uncomfortable and no one wanted to buy

Everyone "wins" this Mary Kay party. They basically try to sell you their products and then will try to convince you to become a consultant. It isn't a scam, and they do have some great products, however if you have no intention/need for more makeup/skincare then I would skip it

I got it too and I enjoyed the pampering. Each person is different on it though!

No prize here -- it's just a Mary Kay consultant knocking on your back door instead of your front door.

You, and your five guests (that's what they're really looking for) will be subject to a high pressure sales pitch -- the kind that makes everyone, even the non-smokers, want to escape to the back yard for a smoke.

Sorry, but MK consultants (and I know some people love their products) find their way into all kinds of bridal expos. It's about you buying, not winning (and honestly, how much product would a whopping $10 entitled you to -- I pay more than that for a drug store lipstick -- and that's the only tangible prize they're offering you, right?)

It's literally the consultant selling the products. The makeup you use you'll need to buy to use for the wedding. Also, those girls usually aren't professionals. Anyone can be apart of MK.

I was a BM in a wedding and was asked to come tot his at the brides house. I drove 2 hours and the rep was 3 hours late and showed up sweating and flustered. I bought a highlighter pen out of guilt. She then called me regularly to recruit me to become a consultant, which I declined every time (she also told me all of her personal life problems which was awesome). I would say skip it...

Thanks guys! I worked with someone who was a Mary Kay rep on the side and definitely pushy/persistent and I'm not a fan of the products either. I'll ignore that email lol

My friend got one and all it was was a Mary Kay party at some hotel where they wanted her to buy products. When I got the same email I deleted it

I'm a Mary Kay rep (only for the discount I don't do any sales). I have "won" this multiple times. It's just a high pressure sales pitch and then they will try to recruit you to become a consultant. To get rid of them say you already have a rep because they will keep hounding you.

It's a sneaky way to get you to buy products and listen to her pitch to recruit for her MLM. Sad, Mary Kay wasn't always so pushy about recruiting downline.

I've "won" three of these. It's an opportunity for a sales pitch.

I got several of these, even when I didn't enter the "contest." I never attended because I don't like being put under the pressure of salespeople to buy stuff when I don't want to. They basically will demo their products on you and then push for you to buy after you've tried it all. I can guarantee you that every single bride who has attended a bridal show where a Mary Kay rep is present or anyone who signs up for the DB dress sweepstakes has "won" at least one of these.

It's a marketing tool that they have used for years. I actually LIKE MK products (their skin care is great) but I won't buy it because I'm not a fan of MLM's.
