David's Bridal Wedding Dress Pick Up

VeeM, on February 7, 2019 at 3:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hi all,

I recently ordered my Wedding dress at David's Bridal and I got an email a few days ago saying it was ready for pickup.

I was wondering if any of you who bought your dresses at DB made an appointment when you picked it up and tried it on.

If I go in there with no appointment to pick it up will they just hand it over? Or will I still get the option to try it on?

If I do make an appointment, would I just pick the "Wedding Dress Selection" Option on their website even though I've already bought the dress?

Note: I am not scheduling my alterations until June/July since the wedding is Mid-September and I know I need an appointment for that but what about the initial pick up and try on?

Thanks in advance!

They called to tell me it was in and I just went in without an appointment. I was able to go back into the alterations department and try it on to make sure it was what I wanted. I think they encourage you to try it on just in case there is something wrong or you don't like it.

You really don't need an appointment for this!

When my SIL got her dress in, they let her try hers on the day she picked it up. I ordered my dress at DB and my dress just got in yesterday and I was planning on going in and trying it on, to get an idea of any possible alterations needed. I guess if your store is on the busier side, you can probably call ahead of time to make sure they'll be able to let you try it on. But I wouldn't see a problem, people go in all the time without appointments!

I’m not sure how DB works, but my dress store had specific “try on” appointments. Your best bet would be to call them and ask how it works.

100% do not leave the store without trying the dress on first!! This was you verify that it came in right: color, size, no imperfections. Typically once you walk out the door with the dress, a lot of those things become not their problem anymore (ex— if you just brought it home and looked at it and discovered a had a rip: they no longer need to resolve the issue bc they don’t know that you didn’t do it at home. Whereas if you notice a rip in the store, it was their fault, and their problem to fix!)

I just picked mine up with no appointment and they asked if I wanted to try it on. You could always call and say "I'm planning on picking up my dress on this day at about this time, will someone be available to assist me with trying on my dress?"

I did make an appointment, only because when I returned their phone call they asked what day and time I would be coming. Advice from my momma: appointment or no appointment make sure to try on the dress in the store. Make sure there are no issues (tears, loose beading or buttons, zipper function, etc.) That way if there is an issue, they will have to fix it. If you would take it home and then discover an issue, there's no way of proving you didn't do it, so they more than likely wouldn't cover the cost of fixing whatever it is.

Hey VeeM! Usually when you go to pick up your dress they will allow you to try it on without an appointment! If you can't make the 'dress try on' selection online for an appointment, it may be worth calling the store to ask them if you need to schedule a time to pick up your dress and try it on just to be on the safe side.

I got an email when my dress arrived at DB, and I was wondering the same thing. So I called to ask if I needed an appointment. They assured me that I did not need an appointment, that they always have consultants who can help with that.

Fast forward to a few days later, I go to pick up the dress, and mention trying it on before I leave. The girl tells me they have no consultants who can help me with that, and suggests that I make an appointment for a future date to come back and try it on. WTF???? This is why I called to begin with! Ugh, so frustrating.

So, said girl handed me my dress, all wrapped up in their garment bag.

If I were you, I would just call and make an appointment. If you choose that option on the online booking, they may be confused when you get there with dress in hand.

I got mine from David's Bridal. I just showed up one day after they called & they asked if I wanted to try it on to make sure it was right. I was even able to talk to the seamstress about the cost of alterations while I was there. It was kind of slow that day, so that have been a factor.

What kind of garment bag did you get when you picked it up?
