David's Bridal Veil.... cheap but others too....

Ella, on March 24, 2018 at 1:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hello,

I am on the level to purchase a veil... but why is it so expensive for nothing...!

David's Bridal had a big sale.. Final sale so I went to their store in person and see.. and omg it was just horrible.... $189 finger tip length on sale for $25. Amazing deal. I went in thinking this is it! but left the store empty-handed. I went to few other local stores but now I'm starting to realize that... hmmm is all veils look so cheap for nothing... and charge to bride sooo expensive... The fabric is same... just the style of cutting and is it silver comb or plastic... is some hair piece on it or not makes the price go up and down.. I assume..? Well for ppl who already purchased the veils... or has knowledge... I just need to accept the fact... veils are expensive and look cheap? What I mean by cheap is.. I dont see the difference from Michaels. I hope this make sense... Even Michaels use same fabric type... Even tho it is same type I dont want Michaels veil over my head on my wedding lol... I am just scared... In the photo it might look cheap.. and ruin my wedding photos..

I think part of the cost of veils is historic because lace was all hand made in the past. I don’t know exactly how veils are made now but I know it’s not all hand done. Hopefully you’re able to find something you like soon! I haven’t started my veil search yet.

Look on Etsy, lots of options and many vendors allow you to purchase swatches first to be assured of colors, details, and quality

I think some veils can look cheap but not all. It depends on the type of tulle, how it’s arranged and the embellishment. I would keep looking because they are gorgeous, affordable veils

Etsy and Amazon have awesome veils for much less. My daughter tried one from Amazon and loves it. Was a fraction of the price for the same thing at the bridal store.

I remember a post about this about a year ago. And it had good points of good quality veils and cheap veils-the qualities are different. I've read from others using cheap veils that their veils were thrashed and shredded at the end of the night. I got my custom veil from the salon that made my custom dress-so expensive, and my veil was stepped on a lot-my veil didn't get a single tear, didn't get thrashed at all.

And sometimes it is telling in photos super cheap veils, and good quality veils. Spotting the difference sometimes is very easy.

One thing that might help you is deciding if you want to wear the veil all night, or just for the ceremony and pictures. I'm not wearing mine for the reception so I bought one off of amazon that is a copy cat of the one I fell in love with at David's Bridal. DB wanted $190 and I got it for $25. The quality feels the same for both, the beading that is one the edging was very well done and I'm not worried about it. Once it is steamed it will look great. If you decided to get one off a website, read reviews, but take them with a grain of salt. Also be sure to look for specific return policies. I bought my veil with the knowledge that I had 30 days for a free return so I knew I could send it back if I didn't like it.
