David’s Bridal Sucks

Shauney, on May 15, 2019 at 3:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
I was engaged and bought a dress from David’s Bridal August 2018. The dress is still in its original packaging, same box, tags still attached, etc. The wedding is called off and I no longer need the dress. So, I call David’s Bridal multiple times and even texted them regarding the dress. They refuse to take the dress back even if it’s still in the box, unaltered, tags attached, etc. etc. I’m stuck with an almost $1000 dress and have nothing to do with it. I’ve put it on every selling site you could think of. I’m leaving for the military soon and have to pay custody fees for my daughter. Someone please

Unfortunately I’ve never heard of any dress shops allowing a return. David’s Bridal is one of the only ones that allows exchanges. I hope you have luck selling it on a website and I’m sorry you’re going through this.

I used to work at David's. It's on your receipt that they dont allow returns. Try a consignment shop that will sell it for you and give you the profits.

I'm sorry, but unfortunately David's is very public about their return policy so I don't think you're going to have any luck with a return.

Have you tried local or military bride groups on facebook?

Unfortunately David's doesnt take returns, heck they'd only let me cancel my first dress order as long as I bought another dress that was more expensive. I'd definitely check any and all consignment shops and only shops that you can. Try Ebay and craigslist even. Good luck to you.

David's is very very very up front about their policy. It's on their receipts. While it is incredibly unfortunate that you're having to go through this, I don't believe it's the fault of DB. They may have their flaws, but this can't be put on their shoulders.

Your best bet is absolutely going to be selling this dress second hand. Instead of just hopping on websites to sell, call a few consignment shops, do a little research on second hand stores that accept wedding dresses. I know there are plenty of places on Facebook you can list a dress for sale and they sell quickly.

So sorry that you're dealing with this! Hopefully everything works out for you!

Unfortunatyely, this is true for most (if not all) bridal salons. Your best best is trying to sell it to another bride, but unfortunately you won't get back what you paid for it. Honestly, you'll probably have to list it at a maximum of $600, but you may not get that much for it,.

This is a pretty common practice and their return policy can be found on their website and/or your receipt.

You bought the dress 7 months ago- if you tried to return a pair of jeans to a clothing store they wouldnt allow you to, so why would davids bridal allow you to return a dress bought that long ago?

Throw it on a site like stillwhite.com and hope for the best, if not its 1,000 dollars...could be worse.

I’ve never heard of any bridal salon that accepts returns let alone a return months after the dress was purchased...

Bear in mind dresses are like cars— they lose value as soon as they leave the store. Even with tags, you won’t get full tag value for it (think of it this way- if someone was gonna pay full price, they’d just buy it at the store), so be sure to account for that when setting a listing price if you’re trying to get rid of it. It takes a while for dresses to sell second hand, so it’ll be a mix of patience and a reasonable list price to get it sold.

i wish you luck and am sorry the engagement didn’t work. But David’s no return policy is pretty standard amongst bridal shops.

Try selling it on Poshmark and sites similar to that. You might not get the whole $1000 but it’s something.

I'm pretty sure they make you sign the bottom of your receipt (at least they did with me) and it says no returns allowed, I would say sell it online, I dont think you'll make all your money back but at least you'll make some of it back
