Davids Bridal screwed me!!

Danielle, on December 3, 2019 at 7:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23
My girls all ordered bm dresses Oct 5, 2019. DB told us the dresses would be done by February. Well one of the girls called to pay for dress early on the black Friday sale. DB told her the dresses were discontinued! They never called or emailed me or the bm's. I have 5 months left and my flower girl already has her dress that matched the bm's dresses that are discontinued. I'm just pissed. The Mgr simply said she has so much inventory there's no way she'd know if ANY of their dresses will actually come in. I'm appalled!!!!

I think I'm confused. They ordered the dresses in October, but she hasn't paid for hers yet?

That's ridiculous! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with that. If you still plan on getting dresses with David's Bridal, I know they have some on the website listed as "ready to ship" which should come in pretty quickly. If you're rather go elsewhere (who could blame you), I would check Azazie. Best of luck and try not to stress, you still have time! Smiley heart

That's exactly what I caught onto also. It sounds like they chose a design and maybe some of the girls ordered at that time but not all of them. That's the issue with choosing a dress and everyone not ordering at the same time, designs can change, be discontinued or on back order at a later date. I'm sorry this happened!! I'm sure y'all will be able to figure something out though.

DB has you put a down payment and then pay it off at the latest time when it’s picked up.

So it's our fault they discontinued the dress. We had an appt, we went, we got measured, selected the 1 dress in different shades, got to the register AND WE'RE TOLD THE DRESSES WOULD BE DONE and BACK IN FEBRUARY AND WE COULD PAY UPON PICKUP AT THE STORE. We had no idea we could wait upon delivery but that's what the girls did. Now the dress in discontinued and your telling me it's because we were paying COD. Thanks for the opinion though.

All I'm saying is that in my interactions with DB you cannot order any dress without a form of payment upfront for the dress, there is not such thing as pay at pickup. If you had all of them paid for up front and ordered them, once again in full payment, then they discontinued the dress it would be their issue for sure. However, it sounds like you simply went in for a fitting, found something you liked and said "we will order later" which is by no means a binding agreement. While it is unfortunate, DB is not at fault for discontinuing something you liked but had no full financial commitment to at the time of the appointment. They most likely gave you the ordering time for that dress according to their current ordering window but without money down they cannot make any assurances. This would be like booking a venue, you pick the dates, have a walk through, make decoration plans and dream of ideas but never put the money down to secure the date and holding them accountable for booking that date to someone else who put the money down immediately.

Well if any of the bridesmaids already paid for theirs, i hope db will have no problem refunding them...
You have 5 months and that should be plenty to get new dresses!
Side note I went to db to check out some wedding gowns... Had an appointment... Well it didn't matter...after a 25 min wait finally got to browsing the gowns. Picked a few. The consultant had zero suggestions, brought me a size 0 for every dress I asked to try on (I'm a street size 8)... She literally was so unhelpful it baffled me.... She just stood there with a blank uninterested look on her face.... I'm never going back there...

Sadly a major chain can make mistakes. I am hoping the consultant did not mislead you because that would suck. I got my dress from DB and I did pay in full but they did tell me that I would have to put at least 60% down for the dress and pay it off with a certain amount of time. I would check JJ House or Azazzie. If needed maybe another Bridal store. 5 months is a good amount of time provided no alterations are needed. Are your BM's wearing different styled dresses for their body types? You might still catch a black friday/ cyber Monday sale. Also, check amazon, etys or ieie.com. You would be surprised what you can find. Good luck and I am so sorry but do not let this overly stress you. It will be fine. Smiley smile

I'm so sorry this happened to you! It is crazy to me that DB didn't even call you because you had the order in. Myself and my bridal party got our dresses from DB and when we went to get the dresses, the store we went to had us pay for the dresses upfront and they got delivered to the store in less than a moth; the same when I got my wedding dress. I'm assuming policies are different from store to store. If any of your bm's did paid upfront, I would hope DB would do the right thing and give them a full refund. Have you tried contacting their corporate office about the issue? They may be able to track the dresses down for you. Who knows, if they were the DB brand, they may have some in their warehouse.

I hope you are able to find another dress for your bm's. You do have time and a lot of places are having sales right now! Again, I am very sorry you are having the deal with this!

Yes. I spoke with the mgr. She apologized because the dress was discontinued and not contacting us. I'm glad we didn't pay upfront for discontinued dress now. Thanks so much

I would check out the Lulus website! They have so many nice dresses for bridesmaids AND you can get the dresses within a week! Might be worth checking out. Good Luck!
