Davids Bridal - Sample Dresses?

Ms.Beach&Boats, on July 27, 2015 at 1:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Ladies... I need your help. I went to David's Bridal last week, tried on about 10-12 dresses. The first one I choose to try on and, I LOVED IT. I found this dress on their website, I printed the picture and took it with me (with a few other pictures from their site). I did not purchase the dress in store that day, they told me it would take 6-8 week to come in. blah blah. So I put the dress on hold under my account, I called them Friday to came back in and try it on one last time before ordering it. They had no notes! Thank goodness I had the dress number from online. They told me they don't have that dress in their store, we argued about how I tried on two sizes in that dress. More in Comments

The lady on the phone says well it’s a SAMPLE dress so you have to order it online anyways, I get that but I wanted to try it on again, she put me on hold and said she was looking for the dress in store, The gal who helped me on my fitting day did tell me, no returns on dresses purchased in store. So I went online again and realized the dress says “SAMPLE” which is fine, I read and re-read the small print:

“Sample Sale dresses are only available online (not available in stores)”

    • Sample Sale dresses contain imperfections such as tears in the lining or tulle, or imperfect seams in the skirt, etc.

    • Specific imperfections are not visible in the photograph shown which is representative of the style and design, not the individual dress that will be shipped.

    • Sample Sale product cannot be returned in our stores, however it can be returned within 14 days of receipt following our standard online return policies.

    • David's Bridal stores can provide alterations on online Sample Sale dresses (for a fee), however we will not restore them back to first quality.

So here’s the deal…. I can order the dress online with a return option of 14 days, because all SAMPLE dresses are not PERFECT! So If I do order online and my seamstress can’t fix it, then I would send it back. Here’s my issue, I am 14 weeks and 4 days from my wedding and it makes ne so nervous to do so, but I would still have time to find another dress. Do I order the dress in the bigger size 14, or the 12 that did zip up but snug. I am currently loosing weight lost 25lbs and have 15-20lbs more to go. WW what would you do?

I attached the picture of the dress, keep in mind our wedding is a DW.

When you looked at the dress, was there room to let it out? I would almost say order the 12, since when it comes in it *may* fit perfectly knowing you are loosing weight.

If you can afford it, I would almost order both, decide with your seamstress, (with the dresses in hand) and send the wrong one back the next day after it comes in. For the cost of shipping, since you are in a time crunch, that may be worth it.

If you are currently losing weight successfully, then I would go for the snug 12.

Also - my dress from DB is a sample. You would never know.

I wouldn't get the sample. DB is hugely popular and I can't even imagine how many women might have tried on that dress - think about stretching, the tears, lipstick stains, etc.

I'd do a 12 since you're losing weight. I bought a sample dress online from DB and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. My mom and I have looked over it and can't find a single thing wrong! Also, since you do have 2 weeks to return the dress, you could always send it back if something is way wrong.

Thanks, that's my biggest thing I guess, is the condition, size can be changed. But it is good to know that others have went this avenue. The dress no matter what will need to be altered, I am 4'11 and FH is 6', everything I own gets hemmed, and all my shoes are heals lol . But we will be on the beach no heals for me, we are going barefoot in the sand. Smiley smile I would like to keep it a tad long.
