David’s Bridal “quartz”

Virginia, on December 29, 2019 at 2:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
This particular shade looks different on different styles. Am I the only one noticing this? The problem is, they don’t have quartz is the style I want in store so I really have to guess as to which shade of quartz it really is. Some are lighter and some are darker. The lighter shade of quartz is just way toooo long for pale people. Ugh. I’m torn.

The only option I can think of would be to order the dress. See if you like it and if you don't then return it. They have a 14 day return policy.

    1) The colors shown on David's Bridal's website are not an accurate depiction of what the dress color actually looks like in person. Definitely order swatches if a specific color is important to you. Especially the lighter colors (like the soft greens, quartz, and ballet, which is a dusty pink) - the online colors look nothing the real physical dresses.

You can also google "David's Bridal [exact color name]" and sometimes have luck finding photos of swatches or the dresses on real people, which can be helpful.

    2) Dresses in the same color but different fabrics might have some variation (for example, a satin vs a chiffon). However the differences you are seeing on the website aren't accurate, just again an example of how the colors on the website don't actually look like real life.

It depends on the fabric that the dress is made of - that's why there is a difference. Go check on a dress in any style in the same fabric and you will know... I had to do that too! No, worries!!

I noticed this exact thing a few weeks ago. I was looking for plum dresses, and the color varied tremendously depending on the dress. See if you can order a swatch in that fabric. They don’t do returns, only store credit, and you don’t want to be stuck buying from them if you don’t have alternate options. I ultimately went elsewhere bc of this. I couldn’t ordered a swatch on the one dress I liked, and I wasn’t getting locked in to purchasing through them. IMO, a boutique shop has better options and quality, but they are pricer. You could also look into another DB store, but call ahead and see if they have that dress in the color you want. But def look into ordering a swatch! You should be able to do it yourself online.

Yea it will look a bit different for different fabrics, but should look the same on dresses made of the exact same material. Velvet, chiffon, satin, and tulle may all look slightly different in the same color, but should all go together for brides who choose to have their maids in different dresses but the same color, even though it won't be an exact match. To dress a specific person though you definitely want to see the exact color on them, because those variations can make a huge difference in whether or not it works with their skin tone and hair color. Good luck!
