David’s Bridal Petite Sizes

I got an Oleg Cassini dress from David’s Bridal in a Size 8 and at time of purchase they didn’t have Petite sizes available and now they do. I’m within my return window and wondering if a Petite size would have a better fit for me. I’m about 5’ 3” and the current size 8 is about 6” too long and has lace and appliqués at the bottom so worried how much alterations are going to compromise the design. I called a couple of DB since they don’t carry the Petite sizes im store and one told me the size difference is 2-3” off the bodice and another told me it’s 1” off the bodice and 3” off length, so now I’m confused. Anyone here order a Petite size after trying on their regular sizes?
