Davids Bridal online sample dresses

Melissa, on March 30, 2014 at 11:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

Has anyone ordered a sample dress from Davids Bridal online? They say the dress may have imperfections due to use from people trying on the dress. I'm a little hesitant because I'm afraid I'll get something that isn't wearable. They have a sale right now where I could get this dress for $720 but if I buy the sample online I can get it for $398 which is a huge savings. Has anyone done this, and what was your experience? The sale ends tomorrow so I'm afraid if I go with the sample I'll miss out on the sale and have to pay almost $1000 for the dress if I'm not happy with the sample.

If you can return it, then buy it and see how it turns out. You have 30 days from the day they ship to request an RMA in most cases and send it back for a refund. Some are final sale, so you need to find that out.

If you can return it, you have nothing to lose except shipping fees.

If the sale is final I would say no. However, if you are able to return it, I would definitely jump on it.

I saw that too. I also noticed that DB is selling on eBay also.

I wouldn't buy a sample online from them, bc unlike other salons, they don't show you the actual dress. So you never know what the "imperfections" really are.

Have you ever tried dresses on at or been in a DB? I would be prepared for makeup stains, missing embellishments, and torn edges.

Allison is right. Some of those samples can be pretty rough...rips, dirt on the hems, hanging threads, missing beads, make-up...if the sale isn't final, and there isn't some restocking fee to return it, I guess you might get lucky.

I did go to DB and tried the dress on. I must have tried on about 10 dresses and they were all in great condition. Of course I'm not sure if this is the case for DB stores. They do have a sale that ends tomorrow so I have to make a decision pretty fast. If I end up buying the sample online and I'm not happy I can return it but that means I would miss out on the sale price and pay full price which would be close to $1000. In which case would be way more than I want to spend. Thank you for the input ladies.

I tried on a bunch of dresses that were NOT in good condition. It depends on what size you are though. I'm a plus size, so there are fewer dresses to try on and therefore, they are tried on more often. I'm guessing if you're a size ten, it probably has had less wear. I'm with the other girls, if you can return it, then go for it. All that being said, I just ordered a dress on sale at DB for $200. I wanted a formal dress for my ceremony. It's perfect, and it was originally $549, so I saved a ton.

Melissa - did you end up buying the sample dress from their website? I am in the same boat right now and am torn if I should buy the sample and take a risk of what they consider 'imperfections'... its hard to pass up such a great deal.

Hi Jessica, well I went with my gut and purchased the sample dress. My gut was right, the dress is perfect! There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. No tears, loose beading, no make up stains, NOTHING! I had another girlfriend order a sample dress also and there was a small tear on the inside lining but nothing that was visible. If I were you, I'd buy the sample dress. It's a huge savings and if it doesn't look good, then you have 14 days to return it so it's not like you're losing your money if your not happy. Good luck!

Melissa - Thanks for getting back with me. I am so happy to hear that your dress is perfect! Hearing this is all I needed to make my decision to order the sample... and like you said there is the option to return in case anything is wrong with it. I am excited now to order it! Thank you for the feedback! I will reply on this thread when my dress arrives so hopefully our experiances will help other brides with their decision.

My "sample" dress was delivered yesterday. As I was about to open the Davids bridal box I was so nervous to see the condition of the dress. I ripped open the packaging and laid the dress out and it looks brand new; no discoloration, not one smudge, all the beading is fully in tact. This one looks better than the one I tried on in store! I love it, it is perfect, and I saved hundreds! Totally worth it!

I'm glad you two ladies had luck... it solidified my choice to mention DB Sample dresses to my FH. My dress is 1049, Sample dress is 448. It's worth a shot, especially if there's a return policy. Thanks ladies!

I have purchased two sample dresses from DB, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the first, I just changed my mind on style and returned it within the 14 day time frame. The second dress has two imperfections that aren't noticeable while wearing the dress. My dress was 1350 in the store and 499 as a sample. I used a 10% coupon and a free shipping code. I couldn't beat the deal

I ordered a sample of the dress I really like, but can't find in stores. I'll post how it turns out (this thread pushed me into buying it since I was on the fence for reasons mentioned already by PPs)

I'm glad my post is still helping ladies save money even though it was posted in 2014. I have no regrets about buying a sample DB dress. Good luck to all you ladies. XO.

I picked out an amazing dress months ago, before my now-fiancé proposed. I ruled it out because of the steep price. I found it in the sample sale, for hundreds less! But it is one of the 'final sale' dresses...so no returns. I'm wondering if the final sales are actually in worse condition than the ones that have a return option..? ?? I just don't know what to do!

Hello Ladies first Congrats on all the engagements and weddings...I'm looking on the David's Bridal website looking for a dress I see the "sample sale" but they all say final sale. I'm a little hesitant on buying it but its a Big Save for me. Ugh looking for a wedding dress can be exciting and stressful at same time!!! I seen where Melissa stated we have 14 days to return I'm confused.

Hey Brides! I was reading your posts and it made me feel like i could go through with my sample sale order.... however upon checkout the woman stated that the dress was a Davids Bridal dress not a designer dress, but it has the same sqeau# as the designer dress that i tried on in stores and looks 99% the same (different model so looks a tad off) Does anyone know if the sample sale dresses are indeed designer or just davids bridal brand knock offs? they only have one left in my size so i have to figure this out fast,.... and same as many of you the sample sale dress is 1000$ less than the floor model.
