David's Bridal-Monthly Winner?!

Michelle, on October 26, 2017 at 12:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

So I received this email today, saying that I won their monthly drawing. I've signed up at so many places (due to attending a bride expo), I'm not sure if this is real or not lol. Has anyone received an email like this one? Is it a scam or should I contact them?

Has anyone tried to contact you? If so, I'd follow up. Call a David's Bridal and confirm

Is the "pampering" from a Mary Kay's sales rep?

If it "pampering" from Mary Kay's which the screenshot looks like, it is not really a prize. The consultant does a beauty demonstration and sell products to your girls. I think you get one thing free or a discount

I actually have experienced this! A friend of mine, who I was MOH for, won the same "prize" at David's Bridal. Basically a Mary Kay lady came to get house and did their typical selling pitch and tried to sell the bridal party her products. I didn't really have fun at all..

Yes, I just went back and saw the name of the person I'm supposed to contact and it is Mary Kay.

@Christine that doesn't sound too fun lol! I won't be contacting them, I don't like sales pitches, especially when I know I'm not going to be buying anything!

I "won" that thing twice with a Mary Kay rep. I didn't reply either time, it's, as PPs, said a glorified sales pitch. My MOH and I had just attended one hosted by a mutual friend, and I didn't want to sit through another or put anyone else through it.

I forwarded the email to my MOH and she immediately knew what it was, she's like "please don't make us sit through that, we can do something better with our time, like go out drinking instead." Lol I won't be contacting to them to claim my "prize."

One of my friends is a Mary Kay rep and I have sat through countless of these only bc her Mary Kay boss does a special one for graduate students where everyone wins money and prizes for showing up. Without that, it would be freaking MISERABLE.

Ah, the 'not-really-a-prize' prize. I never really understood the supposed appeal that the companies think these kind of in-home sales events have. I've never been sitting around my house with my friends and thought to myself, "you know what's missing everyone? A salesperson selling us makeup!"

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where I drove 2 hours to go to this, the rep was 2 hours late and sweating and flustered. I bought a highlighter I never used and then she called me 6 times to ask me to become a rep. Agree it's. It worth it.

Same experience as PPs above...I "won" a similar prize from a Mary Kay rep at a bridal expo. At first, she described the prize as a facial and her doing my makeup for free + $25 off products, so I scheduled it for my engagement photos (because, getting my makeup done for free!). 2 days before, she changed her story and explained it as a "facial." I rescheduled, and when I finally got there to get my "facial," it was a Mary Kay sales pitch where I tested various products and vaguely listened while she pitched their amazing benefits. UGH, don't claim your prize, it's not worth it!

Ugh that sounds horrible. They make it sound like such a great prize though, with the "pampering" I was like cool, a ME day, but nevermind.

I just got one of these from a Mary Kay Rep saying I won a "Pampering Evening" through David's Bridal. I do believe it is real, but I don't ever remember signing up for any type of drawings. I asked them to choose someone else. I am totally not interested!
