David's Bridal is the worst...

Taleen, on October 20, 2016 at 12:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

So about 6 weeks or so ago, I went to David's Bridal to pick out my bridesmaid's dresses. I told them my wedding is July 7, 2017 but I wanted to get an early start. I actually had to pick out 2 because the first one was discontinued. So the "manager" assisted me with picking out another. She assured me my ladies would have time to order their dress because the dress I picked out was a newer style.

I called recently and was told the second dress I picked out was also discontinued because the color of the dress is so rare and unpopular. THE COLOR IS CHERRY.

I had 2 out of the 7 bridesmaids already order their dress, so I asked about a refund.

The manager got an attitude and was short with me. She kept saying there is nothing they can do and they discontinue dresses all the time without notice.

Davids doesn't do refunds as far as I know. Did you ask about exchanging?

Yeah I haven't had great experiences with DB either. Went there for things like shoes (eventually found mine at Macy's) and BM dresses but it really depends on which store you go to. I went to 3 or 4 different ones (my BM are scattered across 2 states) and most were mediocre/bad experiences but we had one girl who was super helpful.

I think a good solution would be to mix and match a little - have the rest of the BMs order cherry dresses in the same material, but different style(s). All of my BMs have long dresses in the marine color with chiffon skits, but they all have different tops. They chose the dresses they felt the most comfortable wearing.

I had a similar situation. Went in with my BM, picked out a dress that they all loved. I went back the. Next. Day. and was told the dress was discontinued so they couldn't get in all the BM sizes. So frustrating. They told me to check through davidsbridal.com because the stores and the website pull from different warehouses. Ultimately I was able to get all of the BM their dresses in the discontinued style by ordering directly through the website - so, it would be worth it to check there.

I have NEVER had a good experience with David's, been a bridesmaid 3x and all 3 brides picked DB dresses. One of the dresses I do love and have worn again, but the staff have always been beyond rude and they wanted to charge me $150 in alteration on a $100 dress. Wtf. I suggest calling corporate.

My girls are getting a refund!

And I decided to go with Azazie.com instead.

I think it is hit or miss. I've definitely had good experiences at David's Bridal but I don't think they know what they are doing half the time.

I think it really ends up being the store and where you are located. Nearest DB to me is about an hour away and I got my dress there. Let me tell you a little story. So my first appt I had the most amazing consultant help me & in this small world we live in she knew someone I went to HS with which made me feel more comfortable you could say. Towards the end of my appt the SM came to coach her on selling me a dress & it was funny because I decided I didn't want a strapless dress but I said I would try it on because it was beautiful lace. It looked alright but wasn't want I wanted and the SM who I only saw when I went in the door said I haven't seen you light up like that yet. I put my foot down and said no this isn't it & I am not buying today. Fast forward to about a month later I go in again to hopefully find my dress. SM helped me first & it was a total different experience she truly valued what I wanted. I was trying to decide to do a veil and it was $$$ like I probably could have gotten one cheaper elsewhere long story short she honored a sale that wasn't including the veils on it so I got it 50% off. I also had to come back because my parents decided they were going to buy my dress so they had to split it. When my dress came in not even 2 weeks later a different consultant was helping me and she was a total rude one. You just never know what you are going to get. Overall I was super happy with my DB experience.

I've only dealt with davids bridal once for my wedding dress, I just picked up from alterations today, and I didn't have any problems whatsoever. It does seem very hit or miss but isn't every chain business that way as well?

I've definitely heard mixed reviews on DB. I think you get that with any chain though. Look at the yelp reviews for the individual stores, that should give you a better idea of what you're in for.

I only went there for my wedding dress though. I've heard BM dresses are a totally different monster
