David's Bridal exchanges

Kathleen , on April 4, 2017 at 2:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

My MOH found her dress where I am in MA, but she wasn't sure of the size. The consultant we had assured us that if the dress doesn't fit when it comes in, they can exchange for a different size free of charge. However, she's trying to order now where she lives in NJ and the employees at a few stores down there told her they don't do such a thing. Has anyone been through this? Who is right? Is it on a store-by-store basis?

It could be a store by store basis, but I was able to exchange my dress for a smaller size (free of charge). I'd call and speak to a manager first.

I've heard both :/ Supposedly if you order online you have 5 days? Luckily I haven't had anyone need to exchange. My advice is to size up. They're always looser in the store because of being tried on so much anyways.

In my experience, any way DB can find to screw you over, they will.

I ordered a dress and it was too big, they were able to exchange it for me, but only because it was going to arrive in time. If there is not enough time left, they can't do it. I also think it depends on the specific store manager and if they are willing to help. If she's ordering through Davids, they should be measuring her to order her dress though, so I'm confused as t why she isn't sure of the size.

The problem is the high neckline possibly being too tight, which she won't really know until the dress comes in.

I would tell her to size up if she's worried, they can always take it in.

Has she not tried the dress on? If she has, tell her to go with whatever size fit her in the store..

Here's where you can find David's Bridal's return & exchange policies:

    http://www.davidsbridal.com/Content_HelpFAQ_helporderchangesreturnsexchanges?leftNav=true

Online orders can be returned or exchanged (as long as they are not a special order item, personalized, dyed, or final sale), items purchased in David's Bridal stores may not be returned or exchanged.

To be safe I'd order a size up and get alterations!

Hey! So it has to be exchanged at the same store that she bought it at. Is it possible for her to go to a store and try it on?

I was able to size exchange at DB. The consultant SWORE to me the size I originally ordered would fit and... it did... but if I had planned any breathing or dancing I was SOL. I teared up and got an exchange. Would they have done it without the theatrics? Maybe but I'm not afraid of a good performance after I just dropped 1K on a dress and the alterations lady is looking skeptical about her abilities to let it out... I would ask first before you buy though or size up.

Thanks everyone! She did try it on in the store but the size they had was a size up from her normal size and the neckline was on the verge of being too tight so she wasn't sure if the neckline in her normal size would actually be too tight. I advised her to order the bigger size.
