davids bridal dresses

Hey Brides!
This is for those who have gotten their dresses from David’s Bridal. Is the alterations included in the original price you pay for the dress or do you have to pay something different after the dress is already paid for?

Alterations are extra and are a set price that is often more expensive than the dress. There are many horror stories online warning brides to get alterations done elsewhere by an independent seamstress.

Because the store is in the process of closing and selling dresses off rack only first come first served, they are unlikely offering that service anyway.

I said “yes “ to the dress there but I found another dress so I’m debating between the two and trying to outweigh pros and cons etc. because the second dress was more expensive than the David’s Bridal one

Yes, in most cases alterations are a separate cost! I would find a reputable local seamstress and not go to David’s bridal seamstress. Good luck!

You have to pay extra but honestly with them shutting down locations, awful quality of altering dresses, and their pricing I would look elsewhere. They don't do a good job and charge you way too much

Yes alterations are separate cost from buying your dress. I bought my dress from David’s Bridal when I was got married in 2021 and my alterations were was a separate cost. I paid $435 for my alterations and it they did a great job on my alterations. I had no issues with them. My experience was great with David’s Bridal. I guess it depends on where you go.

You may want to take your dress to a tailor or seamstress to get alterations bc of the issues that David’s Bridal is going through right now. Do your research to see how much alterations cost.

Yes, an extra charge. My alterations cost $600! However, I was due to pick it up July 20. But they called me and told me the store is closing on the 18th and I could come pick up my dress on the 17th. So it all worked out.

You have tonpay separately for the alterations. I just went for my fitting and they will let you know what they need to do and how much it will cost. It is an extra expense separate from the dress.

I have had no problems at multiple locations throughout Illinois, Iowa or Nebraska. I don't know of places that include alterations in the price, probably because they can vary greatly. I am having a friend help fit my adjustments and I am sewing it since I've been doing sewing and crafts since mom would let me on the regular machine and not the toy sewing machine.

They are extra. I just picked up my dress on Thursday. No alterations even though the lady that helped me was very nice and said since I was so short, my dress would need to be hemmed and my budget doesn't have room for alterations right now so I am gonna order a petticoat and see if it will lift my dress slightly off the ground a bit and I still haven't gotten my shoes yet so that might help a bit also.. If it doesn't work the way I want it too I will wear it as is cause I don't have the money for alterations.

I know all too well about budget. My dress I made a very large and poofy petticoat and then my hem was perfect. So even if you need multiple petticoats - or add in more netting to the existing it can help quite a bit. The petticoats at David's bridal are a joke. The ballgown is more of an A-line. Then again, I've been sewing as long as my mom would let me behind the sewing machine.

I won't be getting my petticoat from David's Bridal. I will order one off of Amazon. I had to order one for my daughter's senior beauty review dress 5 years ago and it worked perfect.. Too bad she don't still have hers or I would have borrowed hers and I wouldn't have to order another one.. and that could have been my something borrowed but oh well.. It will be ok.. it's not like they are that expensive .

David's Bridal has found a buyer of the company, as announced on the 20th. That should keep them operating indefinitely.

That is cool that they have been talking to someone to help save the company and jobs. Its a wonderful thing for many brides who are looking for wedding dresses at a reasonable price.
