Davids Bridal Dress- it's handwashable!

MarriedJ!, on July 2, 2014 at 10:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 1

I got married a couple of weeks ago and am hoping to sell my gown asap through oncewed and tradesy. If it doesn't sell in a couple of months, guess I'll try ebay. Well, the sort of problem was that the bottom of my dress and underneath the skirt got dirty from walking around, some photos outdoors, and my friend's 2 kids stomping on the front during a group photo. I'm thrilled to report that the dress can be washed by hand with water and regular hand soap. It got out the stains and nothing shrank! It's an Oleg Cassini from Davids Bridal and is polyester. Obviously, if it were silk it wouldn't have worked, but this probably saved over $100-150 in cleaning bills. Just wanted to mention this in case some other brides have similar dresses.

I wash newer formal gowns in the tub by hand all the time - unless it is a polyester satin. Those tend to pucker when they dry and then you have to painstakingly steam it for like two hours. If the dress is not silk, you can probably hand wash it! I have a Mori Lee bridesmaids dress in the sink right now haha!
