David’s Bridal bridesmaid alterations

Arianna, on August 10, 2020 at 2:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I’m in a wedding in October. The wedding is just under 2 months away. My question is when would my last chance to have alterations done be? I’m currently still losing weight and I don’t want to get alterations started now and then im a few weeks have to get more done. I had set up an appointment for tomorrow but canceled because of losing weight. Also if anyone knows there pricing that would be helpful as well!! Thanks for your help in advanced.

I would go in for a first fitting sometime in the next few weeks, and then schedule a second fitting closer to your wedding date. Depending on how complex the alterations are, it could take a couple months for the seamstress to complete them. I would ask the seamstress what they think would be a good timeline for this scenario. The first fitting would be a good time for them to look at the dress and get a better idea of how long it would take them to alter.

If you use someone independently (not at a chain like David’s bridal) you can probably go in 2-3 before and be fine.
I found my seamstress on google and she had my wedding dress done in about 2 weeks.

I just got my dress back from alterations ad David's Bridal. My first appointment was July 25th with assurance they could have it done in time for bridal portraits August 17th (one week!) when I called to confirm the lead time was 4 weeks. Since I had been previously told it would be done in time I was able to have it rushed (ready in 13 days) and they waived the fee. I had to have my dress taken out slightly in the hips, add a bustle, and I changed the illusion neckline. I would call your local DB and see what the lead time is currently, what the rush fee is, and what's the quickest they could get alterations completed because even with rush times. A lot will depend on what you need and I'm sure there is a cut off for how close to the wedding they'd be able to complete alterations.

I would go get fitted and depending on how much weight your losing per month, I'd let the seamstress know and they can make some adjustments for you based on that. You definitely don't want to wait till last minute.

I got my dress from DB and I decided to go with someone else to alter but they told me 8 weeks out to go for the first fitting. I would get in asap.

That’s what I’m hoping for. All I have to get done is fix the bust and maybe adjust the hem since it is a bridesmaid dress
