David’s Bridal bankruptcy concerns

Shaundra, on June 30, 2023 at 5:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 5
Hey everyone! I am getting married in November 2024. I went dress shopping at David’s Bridal last week with my sister. We found a dress I loved but wasn’t ready to commit at this moment. Are there any other brides or bridesmaids out there who have anxiety with David’s Bridal filing for Bankruptcy in April 2023? I am so scared to buy the dress then something happens with the company and I am out of my dress. I know they claim no brides or bridesmaids will be effected but I’m nervous. What’s your opinions? TIA!

Based on the current information circulating, they are only selling dresses off the rack. If it’s something that has to be ordered and you can’t take it home the same day as buying, then they are not selling them. Look at other companies for alternatives.

I wouldn't take the chance on being able to get it. It's not looking good for David's Bridal. I thought they were only selling off the rack right now. The one nearest to me was selling at 80% last week and closed this week.

If they don't find a buyer this next week, all their stores will close.

I agree that it's risky. I wasn't aware they were taking orders, I thought they said they would only honor orders up until they announced bankruptcy. I recommend finding a dress somewhere else for the above reasons, but also because I think DB is overpriced and low quality. I actually was quoted by a seamstress $800 for a custom ball gown plus the cost of fabric, so you could always go the custom route if you can't find anything comparable.

That depends... I just went to David's Bridal the other day and found a dress I love, but I want to try on a few Azazie dresses at home before making a final decision. My dress budget is less than $500. The dress I love at DB is $100, and the Azazie dresses I want to try are each less than $300. I'm thinking of buying the DB dress just to get it, because it can be ordered online in my size. If for some reason I like an Azazie dress more, I can try to sell the DB dress on Nextdoor or something for $50 or so and it won't be much of a loss.

At DB I would just stay away from anything that says "Final Sale," which isn't the same as "Sale."

I was planning on making an appointment with them to look at dresses in the next couple of weeks. I had no idea there were issues with David's Bridal. Thanks for the info!
