David’s Bridal appointment cancelled due to the pandemic

Emily, on March 26, 2020 at 10:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I waited as long as I could to schedule my first dress shopping appointment so I could try to slim down as much as I could beforehand (and quite frankly also because I’ve been dreading dress shopping! 😟). I had a David’s Bridal appointment scheduled a couple weeks ago, but it was cancelled a few days prior due to COVID-19. They said at the time they’d reopen after 4/3, but with how much worse the pandemic situation is getting here in California, I’m worried they’ll be closed even longer than that. My wedding is 10/24/20. Is it safe to try and wait a few more weeks to see if they’ll reopen so I can try on dresses in person? Or should I be online shopping now at this point? I had one local bridal salon tell me I was basically too late to schedule an appt with them, since their designers aren’t shipping dresses until August-September! 😱

Even with online shopping you should beware of the delivery dates on those too as they may also take some time due to the virus. You might be ok to get your dress later on this year though such as July maybe or something even though I know in an ideal timeline you’d want to get it earlier than that

So sorry to hear this 😕 I did the “wait to lose weight” method to dress shopping too. I got lucky & the consultant at the bridal shop I had my appointment scheduled at called me over a month before my appointment to tell me that the covid-19 epidemic in China was delaying dress shipments. I ended up ordering my dress that week (the beginning of February) for my November wedding. It’s been delayed. As of now, it is set to arrive by the end of August. I’m just hoping all this clears up by then & it doesn’t get delayed any further. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I would definitely speak to the shop you go to. They should be able to guide you on the designers that will ship in time for your wedding.

I wouldn't worry too much. I bought a wedding dress from there (i am not wearing it) and it came in 2 weeks. If i knew that i would've waited until the last min lol. But it was their brand. You can ask which dresses will come in sooner. I know vera wang will take 6 months.

I think the answer will end up being it depends. A lot of their dresses are already in the us and waiting for someone to buy them, so select styles you could get in two weeks. Others have to be custom made for you, and that takes more time. So I would go in, when they reopen, with an open mind and understand that some dresses may be out of your time frame, but you should be able to find a gorgeous gown all the same! Good luck!

I went to Davids bridal in chico and was able to buy my dress off the rack and didn't need any alterations. Most of there dresses are in stores in the US so when you order it the store that has your size will pack it up and ship it to you.

I ordered online with them and received my dress within a week. I absolutely love it not to mention they’re having a sale right now.

If you're considering online ordering, they have a 30% off flash sale right now and they accept returns within 14 days. I decided to place an order for a dress I've been looking at for a while. Hoping it all works out, but if not I know I can return it so it feels like a good option while appointments are on hold. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your input! I ended up using the try-at-home program through Azazie (before it got shut down) and I think I found the one! Thankfully, it sounds like their production times aren’t that long, so if I order soon I should still be able to get it a few months before the wedding 🤞🏻
