David's Bridal Alterations

Ginsteeca, on June 3, 2019 at 12:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
It's still a bit too early to call and ask on the west coast, but I picked my dress up last Friday from alterations after it was steamed and made ready and there are little safety pins all down the back of the skirt?

Is this normal? I have no idea why they're there.

There were no longer any pins in my dress when I picked it up from alterations after steaming.

I don't think that's normal. All of the pins should've been removed before you picked the dress up!

They should all have been removed when you picked it up. I also find it odd they didn’t have you try it on to check everything before you took it!

I went in to check alterations on Wednesday to make sure it fit, they only kept it till Friday for a final steaming.

That's strange. I'd definitely call and ask them about it, because I would believe they'd been taken out.

I’d call and ask. Just to make sure that the work was done and if you remove the pins it won’t mess things up.

Just an update - I did call and they said they were left in to mark where the bustle points are and it's fine to remove them.

I still think someone made a mistake by leaving them in given the nature of the bustle they did, which is ribbons underneath that get tied. Thankfully my MOH did get taught how to bustle it but I haven't seen this kind of bustle online before. There are 15 bustle points, so lots of ribbons. I absolutely love the look of it when bustled this way.
