Davids Bridal Alterations

Okay so I have my first dress fitting tomorrow... yayy!! But when I called the lady had a huge list of things I need to bring with me to the appointment. I get why I need all my accessories and shoes, but why do I need my receipt? I bought my dress from them but I can't find my receipt. It's lost in a huge pile of wedding paperwork sitting on my desk, I really need better organization skills.

My question is, why do I need it for a fitting? Should I go crazy looking for it tonight or will I be okay? Has anyone else done a fittin without the receipt? It just seems silly to me.

I didn't bring my receipt and I was never asked to show it. I'd call and ask for the manager and ask her if you absolutely need to.

I didn't need mine. That sounds weird. I'd call and ask the shop.

They just want to make sure they're giving a potentially $1000+ dress to the right person! They have asked me for my drivers license a few times. No big deal if you lost the receipt.

    ETA: spelling

Also prepare yourself to spend a lot of money! I had minimal work done and it was almost $460.

I haven't had a fitting yet but I did pick up my dress last weekend. All they did was ask my name, I asked to try it on before I left. I don't need any alterations except the bustle so I booked an appointment in February. As I left they asked my phone number to look up my order and might have checked a picture ID? (cant remember now) If I didn't have to have a receipt to pick up an expensive dress I don't think they will refuse to alter it without a receipt.

I didn't have to take my receipt for either one of my dresses but I did need my shoes and undergarments... But I didn't need to take accessories (jewelry). Agree with PPs about the price though! when they originally rang everything up into their computer, it cost us $1066 and some change. But, when we had them split it onto two cards (mine and my grandmothers) it came out to $836-ish. So she either over charged us the first time or under charged us the second time she rang it up. (And I don't know which is worse, really. It really freaked us out). So double check any price they give you!

ETA: Everyone else must have a better DB's than my local one. They've called me 4 times now to tell me "my dress has arrived in their store and is ready for pick-up within the next 7 days" and I always respond with "Just like I told the girl yesterday, You're damn right my dresses (PLURAL) should be there since they're there for alterations and no, I can't pick them up within the next 7 days because the seamstress told me to make an appointment for the 25th to pick them up. I'm assuming you mean the BELT for the BRIDESMAID dress has arrived. Can I please pick it up when I pick up my dresses in 10 days since I live 2 hours away?" They always tell me yes and that they will "make a note in my account" and then call me again. I've also never been asked for my ID or Address when my items are delivered.

From what I've seen, if you need extensive alterations done, you may want to go outside DB to get them done. I had my dressed hemmed and taken in at the bust and it was $170. Seemed spendy, but I was willing to pay for the convenience of just doing it there (and my location did do a great job!). But if their prices seem too high to you, don't even feel like you have to go with them. You can walk away, even if they have pinned you and everything. Just an FYI.

For what it's worth, I never showed my receipt either.
