David’s Bridal alterations- quicker than estimated?

Futuremrst, on May 15, 2019 at 10:55 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3
I realized after trying on my dress this weekend that the straps need shortened. It’s backless, but when I stand up straight and roll my shoulders back the straps gape weird (enough to be noticeable in pictures). I did custom sizing when I bought my dress from Azazie so that’s the only alteration that I need, but David’s bridal is saying that once I come in for my first fitting next Tuesday (9weeks out from the wedding), it’ll be 4 weeks before it’s completed and I come in to try it on again (5weeks out from the wedding), and if I need any other tweaks it would be another 4 weeks (1week out from the wedding). I’m nervous that this isn’t enough time if anything goes wrong or gets pushed back, and I’m hoping that they’re overly generous on their estimated work times. Has anyone gotten their alterations done & back faster than they estimate? I basically just need some reassurance at this point since it’s too late to go anywhere else.

I took my dress in about 2.5 months before my wedding. I had it back a month before my wedding all complete. March 3rd - April 19th was all my trips.

Trip 1 - measure to hem, add height to the neckline (about three weeks is what they told me)

Trip 2 - try on dress to make sure hem was right, check neckline to make sure it was where I wanted before they sewed it and add a bustle (about two-three weeks)

Trip 3 - try it on fully altered

I'd just ask that they let you know when the alteration has been complete so you can go in ASAP to do the next step. They also have a rush service (I think it's about $60). They are pretty quick but they usually give you a max time.

That makes me feel a lot better! I was hoping they were giving me their max, especially since this is a quick fix.

Hey! In my experience, companies tend to give you max time something may take so to avoid disappointing their customers should a delay happen. Since it's such a small alteration it shouldn't take too longSmiley smile
