David’s bridal Alterations question

Abby, on October 6, 2019 at 2:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
So my family is wanting to buy me a new wedding dress from David’s Bridal with less than 4 months till the wedding.... I bought one online and it will need a lot of alterations so they just wanted to try David’s bridal. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I love my dress and really don’t wanna go through the hassle of getting another dress... but if they are willing to pay I don’t know. I just know I HAVE to have my dress in 3 months. It could not be a day longer.
Did any of y’all get rush alterations with them? If so how much was it and how long did it take?

I bought my dress off the rack at David’s bridal. Alterations (not rushed) takes a full month to the day. I’m not sure how it would be with a rush. I do know they forgot to sew in my belt to my dress. They had that done within an hour and I still took the dress home that day.

I bought my dress from DB and it took 5 months for it to come in and then another month for alterations. I paid $599 for my dress and another $540 in alterations with them and they didn't even do my alterations correctly so it is back with them so they can fix what they did wrong

I’ve heard many stories like this which is what makes me very skeptical about David’s bridal.

I just bought my dress at David's bridal yesterday and it'll be in within the month. They have dresses that they can get within weeks. I think you can find something that will work with your 4 month timeline.

That’s great! The only thing with me is since I have a dress I love I’m not willing to settle for something I don’t love.
Im also overly nervous of not getting it on time 😬

Understood. If you go on David's bridal website, they now have an option that shows you what dresses are available in ALL stores to try on. Maybe you can find a dress that you like before you go and hopefully they can get it in time. Not all dresses are available in all stores to try on. If you find one they will tell you at your appointment when the dress will be in. This wasnt my first time ordering a dress because I had dress regret. My first dress came in within 2 weeks!

It had been a nightmare. If your family is willing to pay for you a new dress would they be willing to pay for the alterations on the dress you love? The only difference in my dress and alterations was $50

This is most of the stories that I’ve heard.
They will pay for the alterations, I think they wanted an easier solution as this will need a lot of alterations. I was just getting others stories.

Have you considered Azazie? A made-to-measure dress costs the same as a standard size and their production is usually quite short -- like a month? You can order sample dresses to try on at home so you're not "ordering blind." Good luck!
