Hi Ladies! I need to get my dress altered soon and I was wondering what you paid at David's Bridal for alterations and what you needed done. I've heard it can be quite expensive so I just want to have an idea so I'm not totally shocked when I go in for the alterations. Thanks!!

My dress needed a lot of alterations. I can tell you they said hemming alone was $200 at my location, and the other things (bustle, taking in straps, adding belt, bra, shortening/taking in bodice, fixing a piece of embroidery) added about $175. Each item was about $25 on average if I remember?

I am 5'6'' and will be wearing high heels. I still needed to hem my dress about three inches!

They quoted me over $500 to hem, bustle, the the straps taken in.
I’m meeting with someone else next week.

I paid $550 for my dress and $300 for alterations (inclusive of tax) at DB. Alterations include taking up the shoulders, taking in the sleeves, hemming, and bustle (8 points). I actually had the foresight to budget around $400 for alterations because I knew I would be using DB and knew they are a bit pricey - but I’m in a very rural location and I don’t have any other seamstress options close by.

Thank you ladies for all of the help! I decided to go with a local seamstress because DB is over a hour from where we live. I'm really glad I don't need it hemmed because that would really add to the cost. I'm sure you will all look so beautiful! Thanks again!
