David’s bridal alterations cost?

Katelyn, on April 6, 2021 at 8:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
I’m curious as to what the price will be for taking my dress in, hemming it, & adding an insert. I’m in the New England area, so I’m wondering if there’s anyone that’s gotten alterations at David’s Bridal.

This is going to be really dependent on the dress itself, because how a dress is constructed impacts how easy it will be to alter. Ie, a plain dress might not be so hard to hem, whereas a dress with a lace train might need to be taken apart at the waistband so the lace design isn't impacted, which is a lot more work to do.

I'm not in the US at all, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt, but having been on a bunch of wedding planning boards, I haven't heard good things about David's Bridal alterations.

I would speak to a number of alterations people with good reviews, get some quotes, and choose the one you feel most comfortable with.

My bff/MOH got hers done at DB and was totally misled by the pricing. I got mine ( a DB dress) done at a local seamstress and for only a hem she only charged $130, telling me that usually she starts at $150 but my super simple dress was way too easy to charge that much. #centralCT

I live in NE as well. I got an estimate from DB for alterations that was way higher than a private seamstress. Plus unfortunately DB alterations doesn’t have the best reputation. I’d check out a seamstress!

Thank you! I’m definitely going to look at a private seamstress, it seems like that would be best

I had my dress done at David’s Bridal and it cost me $435 probably bc of the type of dress that I have. I had a great experience with the alterations department. I will agree with Rosie that it probably depend on the dress that you have and the amount of work that has to be done. The other brides are right about taking it to a seamstress/tailors to see how much it would cost.

Thank you! I’m glad that you had a good experience!! My dress is a little complicated, so I’m sure it’ll be a bit pricey.

You are welcome. My dress was complicated bc I have a lot of ruffles at the bottom of it and it was time consuming standing there for almost and hour to make sure that everything was to my liking. The ladies who helped me was very nice and helpful during this process. They answered all my questions and made sure that my dress was what I wanted.
