David Bridal- Payment policy

OG Kathryn, on September 14, 2015 at 10:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

Hi Everyone- For those of you who ordered your dress from DB, what is their payment policy? Can you put down payment then pay the rest when you pick it up???? I know AA had that policy. If so how much do you have to put down???

(Rather not see the giant HIT all at once).

25% down and 60 days to pay remainder of balance.

I think you have to pay upfront or finance through their credit card. I paid upfront, though.

Eta- looks like I was incorrect! Although my dress wasn't super expensive.

They have a few options. Pay up front of course. Their credit card financing. And, more along the lines of what you're looking for, layaway (which is what Kameeko was referring to I think).

So, enjoy your shopping without a giant dent in your bank account right away! Post some pictures from your shopping, too :-)

In Florida they offered 50% down and the remainder when the dress came in. My dress was also only $300, so that might be why. If it was more expensive they may have allowed 25% down. You have to pay before you can touch your dress, or book an alterations appointment though.

Awesome thanks everyne! I'm very nervous... I am trying to stick under $500. So even if they make me pay up front thats ok... I hope I find something that looksgood... Im a street size 14 and I'm afraid they wont have anything in my size. :o( I'm sure I'm wrong! I'm taking the advice of others on here and getting a hair trial before I go....

They have most sizes in stock to try on when I went.

Keep in mind that "pay the balance when the dress comes in" might be months at bridal salons but at DB it might be, like, a week. So be prepared for that - they do not keep your dress for you, you have to pick it up when it comes in, so that balance could come due sooner than you might be planning.

Kathryn - Don't worry about them not having your size. Like Rosemary, I'm a size 18 and they had a great selection for me to choose from. And to answer your original question, I paid for my dress when it was ordered it.

You will have some good selections. I am street size 14 also. They tried to get me to go for the credit card with them. I just used my regular credit card because I earn cash back. I think the 25% down and paid in full in 60 days is their layaway.

I was told I had to pay for my dress in full. My bridesmaids also purchased their dresses from David's and had to pay $160 in full. I also had to pay my full alterations cost up front at my first appointment. ETA I'm getting the impression it depends on the David's Bridal. I was told that their was no lay away option. I had to pay in full or open a David's Bridal credit card.

I actually opened the credit card, so 60 days layaway would be awesome..

Thanks Kameeko- I just look at the pictures online and the girls are so thin.. and I freak out... But then I come on here and see alot of plus size brides that are absolutely stunning in their dress. :o) And all is well again.

I put 50% down on my dress and I've been making payments. Also my dress is on sale so this might be why I'm required to do this. Also the store had my size. They did inform me that if I wanted a sale dress that wasn't in the store that I would have to pay the dress in full. ETA: I'm in Texas

They have tons of sizes at DB. I tried on dresses in sizes 12-16 when I was there. I'm a street size 12 but different styles definitely fit differently. I had to put on a 16 in anything trumpet or mermaid style but I ended up with an A line sheath style in a 12. Oh the joys of being bottom heavy

I opened a credit account with DB while it was a promotion 1 year no finance charge... I found my dress about 2 months later for $250.... $100 over budget...lol So I went ahead an bought my 3 bridesmaids dresses (our daughters) and my 2 matron of honors dress...... all for under $450.
