6-8 weeks before the wedding is the standard. You allow 2 weeks to track down anyone who hasn't replied and tally your headcount for caterer and venue.

Also depends on how many out of state/country guests you have and what the date your venue has in the contract for finalized guest counts and dish orders. Don’t forget to take into account any deadlines for room block reservations before either needing to release or be fully responsible for.

I'd wait until six weeks out given out ever-changing situation.

Mine is 9/6 and I sent mine out today with an RSVP of 7/15. The room block ends on 8/1 so I wanted to make sure people have time to book since 70% of our guests are out of town.
