Date or Venue

Brooke, on July 27, 2016 at 11:16 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

The venue my FH and I chose is now no longer available for our date. We don't know if we should just change the date or keep looking. I feel like if we don't book it now for a different date by time we find another place it will be booked by then as well. Just asking for advice on which is easiest do

That's a toughy. For dates we did have "deal breakers" but our net was wide open for dates too. As for venue, if you find one you love and afford, do it even if your perfect date isn't available.

If the date for your perfect venue is not available for like an extra year, maybe you don't want to wait longer and go find another venue.

Well it just depends on what you actually want to do. Did you not put a deposit down on that date? Anyway, if they have another date you like then take it right away. If they don't then start looking at other venues. Whatever you do make a decision quickly.

Our date does have meaning to us, but I guess if we change the date no matter what day it is it will end up being important either way. We do love the venue so hopefully he'll be okay with just waiting an extra week to get married

How much do you care about that specific date? I was originally thinking about a September wedding until we found our venue and they were all booked up Smiley smile

ETA: just saw your response! Totally worth waiting another week Smiley smile Your wedding date will be meaningful no matter what - because it will be your wedding date!

As the PP stated, it depends on what you want. If the venue is something that you have dreamed about and have visioned yourself getting married there, then just change the date. But if the date is extremely important and significant to you, then I would choose another venue.

Personally, I was more concerned about the date. There was a lot of timing involved with working around birthdays, job duties.... plus I wanted a Sunday wedding for the price discount and I really wanted my wedding in September.

It all depends on what's more important to you. Would you be more upset about not getting that venue or not getting that date?

If it's the venue of your dreams, I would just change the date. Especially since it looks like it is only a week later (not changing months/seasons). Like you said in your comment, any date is going to be special it being your wedding date and all!

Thank y'all so much! We decided to just change the date. (I'm shocked we made up our minds this quickly lol) I have officially changed it on WW now so it's official. 7/15/17 is going to be our new special day Smiley smile

I had this problem for our date/venue. I wanted a fall wedding, but had in my mind certain dates that were a no-go. I also had a venue in mind that I wanted. When I went to see the venue, they literally only had one fall date left (one of my no-gos). I ended up letting go of the date issue and going with the venue because I loved it so much.
