Does anyone else have people constantly complaining about the date they chose? I really looked at my guest list and tried to find a date that would be best for everyone. I chose the Saturday before Thanksgiving for several reasons. First, none of my family or FHs family travels for thanksgiving so I knew they’d all be in town. Second, I am a student and several of my friends are students and we all have long breaks at that time. Third, family and friends that are out of town usually come in on that weekend and stay for a week, so I knew they’d already be in town. I assumed that I would have some people complaining about it being near Thanksgiving, but no one has cared about that at all and a lot of people say it is more convenient for them because of vacation time and what not. I have received some complaints though from family and friends, and, in my opinion, they are ridiculous. I’ve had at least 5 people complain about how it’s football season. Before picking the date I checked OSU, MSU and U of M football schedules to make sure there are no big games on my wedding date. There are no important games at all and I even asked my family if they wanted me to get a TV set up after dinner to watch any games that are on. We’re not doing this so I’m probably going to have the DJ periodically announce big plays or scores. Usually when I tell these complainers that there are no big games they act all relieved and laugh it off but I still think it’s a bit ridiculous. I’ve also gotten around 5 people complaining about how it’s hunting season. I’m just getting so frustrated!! I would keep my date to myself but I feel like it is important to share?

I understand that my guests truly care about these things, but I would never act like this about a wedding date and I don’t understand why they can’t just keep these concerns to themselves. I would just not say anything and RSVP no if I needed to? I understand that these are important things to my guests so they might be reasons people wouldn’t want to come, but I just wish people would stop complaining about it to me.

How could that possibly be tacky? What an incredibly rude thing for someone to say, especially about something so close to your heart.

Very rude Smiley atonished oh i know how u feel and it's difficult to hear those things, but in the end you should just pick a date that works for you and your spouse and try not to think about their opinion for your special day , if they really wanna make it for your wedding they will and if not they will find the smallest excuse :/
