Date Change

Ebony, on March 20, 2022 at 12:21 PM Posted in Planning 6 11
Hello ladies!

So my previous date was June 17, 2023 but now we decided to change it to May 25, 2023. Which is the actual day him and I started dating 4 years ago and I thought it was the cutest thing ever! I know it lands on a Thursday, but we have plans to do a destination wedding so we figured it really didn’t matter which day we do it on since our guest already was taking days off.
My question for y’all is: have y’all ever changed y’all date? If so why?

We had to change our date twice – both times because of Covid restrictions. Original date was Fall 2020, postponed to Fall 2021, now set for Fall 2022. We went from a 2 year engagement to a 4 year engagement 😠 But no matter what, we have both agreed we are getting married this year!- whether we can continue on with our original plans, or if we have to modify, or even if we just have to go to the courthouse! We also chose a date that was special to us – our very first date. Originally that put us on a Wednesday. But since we have had to postpone twice, it now falls on a Friday night; so that was one of the silver linings of having to postpone I guess.

I’m sorry that covid disrupted your original plans but I’m so happy it worked out in the end for you both! My fiancé and I agreed the same things you both did. We said, “If covid mess things up again, or if a natural disaster strikes, we will go to the courthouse because I refuse to wait any longer.” And he agreed!

At first I thought, well maybe it’s a sign that things happen to postpone our wedding,” but technically nothing stopped us yet…but we are nervous our covid and other things as well.

No, y'all aren't Smiley heart Our date works perfectly for us because we both love winter and hate the heat even if both of our birthdays are in August lol

Hi yes we have original date was 6/12/23 and now its Oct 30th of 2022. And its because we were losing family members back to back work was slow cutting hours because of covid so money wasn't coming in. And our date was fast APPROACHING and we didn't have the funds flowing right we had gotten second job. With other Bill's of household that need to be paid on the regular that come. But now we are ok back paying our venue & vendors and trying hire the others now it's been rough. Now we are doing our marriage counseling now praying that it continues to get done for our big day

Yes! Covid really ruined everything to be honest. Changing wedding dates seems to be the current norm.

Also a COVID date change. We got engaged in 2020 when we were in our last semester of grad school. The plan was to just book a few big things like venues, take combo engagement/ graduation pictures, and then probably hold off on any major planning while we studied for/ took licensing exams. Around October 2020 we'd have (hopefully) passed and gotten full-time jobs in our chosen fields so we'd have a better idea of what our budget was, so we had planned on October 2021. Then COVID hit, graduation was canceled, the exams got delayed, and we didn't want to be booking vendors when the state of the world was up in the air, so we postponed to October of this year. We still haven't taken engagement pictures and our original date had perfect weather (go figure lol). Hopefully everything works out even better for our new date!

Hey Paige, sorry that all that happened to you both. I did notice that the end of last year and this year so far has been blessing us with decent weather. I think the universe knows we deserve this 😂😂but good luck in the rest of your planning ❤️And hopefully covid chill down a bit so we can all get our dream weddings.
