Has anyone else had to change their date because the venue is booked?

I didn’t have that issue since I don’t consider “having a date” until the venue is secured. Good luck

It's common for people to choose a venue and then choose a date from what's available.

I had to change the date because my fiancé is in the military but not because of the venue being booked.

That’s more likely to occur when a couple is set on a date before booking a venue. Many couples have a date (or a season) in their mind. But they’re flexible about changing the date by a few weeks if they find the right venue. So are you willing to change dates to one that the venue has available? Seems like the best idea if you love the venue.

You do not have a wedding date until you have a venue booked. Once you sign a contract and pay a deposit with a venue, then you have an official wedding date.

We're running into that right now. My fiancé is set on 5/20/22, but the venue we toured Saturday was booked for that date the weekend before. I'm waiting for her to email me back with the available dates. He doesn't wanna change the date, but he likes the venue. He's gonna have a decision to make.

We wanted to do the first week or two in October, but ended up having to push it up to September because our venue puts on a huge Halloween event and decided to do it every Saturday in October instead of the last two/three weekends like they have traditionally.

We could've still had the reception there, but it would've been while everything was going on and we wouldn't have been able to have the ceremony. Did not want to risk having wedding crashers so we adjusted.

Working in the wedding industry it always sucked when people were set on a date before they actually toured venues because it made everything so much harder.

Why would you choose the date before securing a venue?

This didn't happen to me, but I agree with everyone who says you don't actually have a date until you book a venue.

Great! Then it sounds like you’re good to go with that venue and selecting a different date.
