April, on July 8, 2017 at 9:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Spring wedding VS Fall wedding!?!?! We just got engaged on July 4th and are not getting married till 2019, mainly because we just bought a house in June and we will have to buy a new vehicle by winter but come January 1st we will be booking our hall, I already have one choosen so I want to pick a season and stick with it lol leaning toward spring because of the colors I want to do and well obviously because it's sooner but I also think that fall would be very beautiful and nicer weather??? Hit me with some pros and cons.....thanks!

Well since we are waiting till 2019 we could do either really and I will be booking our hall witch is on the lake as soon as they allow 2019 booing to start!! Really either would work with our venue.

Venue and season can make a big difference in the budget. Once you have a vision of what type of wedding you'll be able to better decide. I'm in 2019 as well and kept thinking Aug vs Nov. It's hard because some venue have on and off season prices, weekend vs weekday, Saturday vs Sunday, and days vs evening prices I as surprised at some of the price difference. Our budget was what I focused on to help me decide. Good luck I'm sure it'll be beautiful no matter what.

I vote fall 100% of the time. Especially if you're doing a lake and there are trees about.

Yea both dates I'm looking at are both in season and on a Saturday so probably not much of a difference in prices. Spring makes me nervous because of rain and fall makes me nervous because of cold, I'm just really torn lol I have till January to make my final decision when I have to book by so I was just looking for advice/suggestions.

I say fall wedding!!! The way the color on the leaves will play off the water will be amazing. October would be a great month. Good luck!

My dress is huge so I'm doing fall in hopes that the weather will be cooler but not snowing or raining. My colors don't match the fall seasons though, bit I've never matched anything.

Are you doing an outdoor wedding? The reason I ask is because one of the reasons why I chose my venue is because although it will be outside if the weather doesn't cooperate we are able to move the ceremony to the loft which is also beautiful so the stress of weather concerns are out of my mind. I understand your dilemma.

I'm looking into a dress similar to this so it's not too heavy.

OP if you plan a lot of dancing the cool fall air will probably help keep the guests comfortable and their butts a-shakin'. So I'd consider that a plus!

I say Fall, I love Fall weddings. Plus I think the weather is more cooperative in the Fall, especially if you have an early October wedding. I was in the same boat and choose June because it was closer lol, so I know what you're going through.

I would pick fall over spring, personally. Your colors don't depend on season, do what you want colorwise. And if you want colorful leaves in your photos I would do some photo research of your venue around the fall months to see what month you like the leaves the most. There are days in the fall where the colors are gorgeous one day and off the tree a couple days later. Also, a swing by your venue in the fall this year to check out how you feel about it at that time of year may also help. Sometimes it's a feeling. =]

First of all, congrats!! Smiley smile I agree with everyone who posted earlier, especially concerning the off season (fall and winter weddings) vs in season. I know where we're getting married it shaves off a few thousand dollars for us to get married in the fall, although we picked a fall date for other reasons (so many to list - my fiance's cousins are getting married earlier in the year next year, my best friend is getting married the month before us next year, one of my other best friends is expecting and having a baby in late spring, our current anniversary is November 4th, and it would be easier for him to remember, and for my family who is in Chicago - my fiance and I currently live in California, they would LOVE a reason to escape fall and winter type weather, so why not our wedding. Smiley smile )

I've seen that some places around here extend the off season to March, and while it's not "fully spring" per say, that might be a good option to save some money (depending on what venues you're looking at).

Are you going to have both an indoor ceremony and reception? Or were you thinking of potentially going with an outdoor wedding - and moving things inside in case of too much cold or rain? I think that would be the biggest consideration. If you're going indoor, then you can always opt for a covered parking lot or a place that has some indoor or valet parking, or even see if a shuttle is possible to get your guests to your venue from one place (if they're staying at a hotel, or potentially a shuttle from someone's house) - that way they're not in the cold and/or rain as much. If you have a lot of guests who are traveling from a bit farther away, spring would be easier than fall.

I'd also take in to consideration your colors/themes that you might have in mind. There are so many cute ideas for both seasons (even if you don't want season inspired themes or colors).

The dress is very pretty! Smiley smile

We decided by our favorite colors. His is a medium purple and mine is a med blue.

So we came up with periwinkle for our wedding color and that is a spring / early summer color.

We are doing spring. We are in Nj (close to the shore). Originally we wanted to do march 2017 but opted for spring for the flowers. Thought they would look nice in pics
